In the popular children’s book “Charlotte’s Web,” the title character, a spider, uses her web as an instrument of good to help secure the freedom of Wilbur, a pig on her farm.
Federal immigration officials used the book’s title to name their latest crackdown, in Charlotte, North Carolina, Operation Charlotte’s Web.
The author’s granddaughter drew a sharp contrast Sunday between the federal raids and the ideals E.B. White highlighted in the beloved book, in a statement Martha White shared with CNN.
Her grandfather “certainly didn’t believe in masked men, in unmarked cars, raiding people’s homes and workplaces without IDs or summons,” said White, who is also her grandfather’s literary executor, in the statement. “He didn’t condone fearmongering.”

Willy Aceituno, a 46-year-old Honduran-born US citizen, told The Associated Press (AP) news agency that he was on his way to work on Saturday when he saw “a lot of Latinos running”, chased by “a lot of Border Patrol agents”.
Aceituno said he himself was stopped – twice – by Border Patrol agents. During the second encounter, they forced him from his vehicle after breaking the window and threw him to the ground.
“I told them, ‘I’m an American citizen,'” he told the AP. “They wanted to know where I was born, or they didn’t believe I was an American citizen.”
After being forcibly taken into a Border Patrol vehicle, Aceituno said, he was finally released after showing documents proving his citizenship. Briefly detained twice, broken window on his truck, he's skinned up. No charges filed against him. Just rousted. It will be interesting if his complaint to the local police results in any redress.

Steve, I'm exploring another thought. It seems Ice agents have Federal immunity under the Supremacy Clause which, among other things, protects them from suits from locals as long as they are reasonably acting within the bounds of the law in per3formance of their duties. It's like qualified immunity, but also protects them from state suits. But there are some articles that seem to think Fed courts treat it as more powerful than than qualified immunity in Fed courts and allow ICE to essentially violate people's rights.
So the upshot that I'm trying to see if it's genuine, is that some journos think we aren't seeing rights violations suits on ICE because its interpreted to fall under their Federal immunity protection, whereas state and local police don't have that Federal immunity, so we see the rights violations much more against state and local police, but are rarer for Ice police. Can't seem to verify it though.

I saw a policeman pull over a car with a black man at the wheel. The driver immediately opened the window and held both open hands out the window, so he didn't get shot.

The only way not to illegally discriminate is to be indiscriminate.
For DUI checkpoints, that means if the cops don't want to stop every single vehicle at the checkpoint, they have to stop say every third vehicle.
If ICE is doing a raid or operation in an area or at a business, the safest way they have to not be accused of illegal discrimination is to stop all vehicles.
As far as I am aware anyone in a vehicle, when stopped by police (even if it later turns out there was no legal justification for the initial stop), has to cooperate. This is for the police officer's safety.
So we are getting stories of people who claim they were mistreated by ICE. Then when we are provided with further details, there is ALWAYS more to the story. Usually involving lack of cooperation with the ICE agents at the initial stop or active resistance.
If you or I or anyone else regardless of citizenship, race, nationality, are stopped by police while we are driving a vehicle, we have to cooperate. We don't necessarily have to say anything,as there is a right against self-incrimination.
But if you are stopped by police at a routine traffic stop and you refuse to identify yourself, refuse to roll down your window, refuse to provide I.D.,refuse to provide driver's license, insurance, registration, the cop can certainly take further steps including up to detention and arrest.
Not sure why everyone seems to think that federal ICE agents should have LESS authority under federal law than a local cop has under state law.

Plumbers, electricians, welders, mechanics, and so on are not uneducated, they just know different stuff, stuff more likely to them being able to earn more, support themselves, and raise a family than say an art history grad. When the plumber hires a helper or takes on an apprentice, he is also providing jobs to others, something else the Art History major is not prepared to do.

A lot of college-"educated" ProGlibs who snobbily think they are "better" than people in the trades are amongst the most ignorant, stupid, most mentally-disturbed, people that exist. (Democrats, obv.)
