Now before I post a snip from the article image for a moment how republicans would have reacted if President Biden refused to release relief funds in a red state unless they first implemented a specific gun control measure.
During the presidential campaign, Trump repeatedly used the devastation Helene wrought on North Carolina to spread lies and conspiracy theories about the Biden administration’s recovery efforts. In a speech in January, Trump claimed he’d be “taking strong action to get North Carolina the support that you need to quickly recover and rebuild,” and he specifically named Asheville as “a great place, and we’re going to have it be a great place again.”
“Strong action” apparently comes with some strings attached. Because on Monday, Trump’s secretary for the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Scott Turner, denounced Asheville’s 125-page funding plan because of one line, in a section touting the plan’s benefits for vulnerable populations, that said some of the funds to support small businesses would help the city “prioritize assistance for Minority and Women Owned Businesses (MWBE) within the scoring criteria outlined within the policies and procedures.”King Donald is using disaster recovery funding to bring communities to heel and force his political will on left-leaning local governments that may not otherwise accept it... like a little-handed dictator.

her expectation (per trump soundbites) was that EVERY state would have its own 24\7 disaster recovery infrastructure, for any type of emergency.
[hell, emergency workers can all just sit around until something happens just inside state boundaries. maybe they should all be volunteers with donated or self-paid equipment and training...start recruiting.]
and of course she was sporting some american flag gear, not a state flag one.

I watched a utube vid yesterday about some devasting flooding that occurred recently in coal country in West Virginia. Residents complaining about how they have received zero Federal help.
They blame FEMA, but somehow they do not have as much blame Trump, lol. And the State response for them has been pathetic, WV not coming thru in any meaningful way.

in southern States under Trump's watch. We'll see if he teflon-Don's away any blame
from the overwhelmingly MAGA base in these States when relief doesn't come. California is likely to get hit with something as well. I'm pretty sure they realize help is not coming from Trump. But the southern MAGA are probably still under the fantasy that Trump has their back.
They are going to learn whether that belief is true or false, it's just a matter of time.
