I just read in a German magazine the US economy according to the FED does not grow, employment is weak, consumption is weak --- with the latter in line with all the posts about KMX and closing car dealerships (Falling Knifes board?). Aren´t those observations omens for a recession eventually being ahead (with according effects on the stock market, especially the overvalued high-flyers)?

There is always a recession coming, you just don't know when. I don't read any articles about looming recessions etc. anymore, IMO a complete waste of time. Buy stocks that are demonstrably cheap and you'll do well over time.

On the note of the OP an article in "The Economist" about thinner margins:

There's always cool bearish stuff to read.

A nice one I spotted, written earlier this year, on the subject of the aftermath of tech exuberance.

"How long did it take for the total return of the S&P 500 Index – dominated by top performing technology stocks over the last decade – to surpass the S&P 500 ex-Technology Index since the peak of the market in 2000? It hasn’t. "

(it's close)
