What is the new face of the Democratic Party?
Mostly governors:
Andy Beshear
Abigale Spanenberger
Gavin Newsome
JB Pritzker
Josh Shapiro
Mikie Sherrill
Mamdani??
Mamdani crushed two criminals supported by Trump to win his race as mayor of New York City.
CRUSHED-
Like AOC and a few others, he comes from the progressive wing and helps carry the torch for Democratic ideals, but nobody’s pushing Mamdami or AOC for president in 28. In any event, Mamdami is ineligible for the office.
Why, suddenly, are governors the torchbearers for the Democratic Pary and potential candidates for 2028?
BECAUSE THEY ARE ON THE FRONT LINES OF THE BATTLE BETWEEN The STATES AND TRUMP’S DICTATORIAL OVERREACH……
Keep an eye on Andy Beshear. I don’t even have a clue whether or not he’ll run, but he’s a very popular blue governor in a red state.
But the main point of my argument stands- a good chance that the nominee for 28 will be a governor.

Mamdani and AOC are the leaders of the Democrat Party.

Mamdani and AOC are the leaders of the Democrat Party.
Leaders IN the Democratic Party.
Not leaders OF the Democratic Party
PS: use of “Democrat Party” simply makes you look like an asshole

Well Hakeem Jeffries is certainly one of the official leaders of the Democrat Party as the House Minority Leader, yet he wasn't included in the list of "leaders," was he.
The outrageous blatant racism of privileged white ProGlibs is...interesting.

It's not unheard of. Just in my lifetime we had Carter and Clinton, both southern governors.

Sorry, they aren't lily white highly privileged and wealthy ProGlibs.

Both are probably too progressive to win a general election for POTUS. As for being leaders within the party, they are both pretty young. AOC may ascend to that role someday. Her criticisms are pointed and effective (i.e. good messaging).
Jeffries doesn't seem to be an effective leader. Not that he isn't a smart guy. But his "one liners" are almost as lame as Schumer's (who also isn't an effective leader, IMO).

Quite so. There was a piece on TYT a couple evenings ago, talking about who is leading the party. The discussion took note of how established Dems are trying to pretend that Mamdani doesn't exist. One clip they showed was an interview with Congresswoman Debbie Dingle. Dingle was asked directly about Mamdani. Dingle talked about the two white women who won. Never mentioned Mamdani at all.
So we are starting to see a fracture among Dems: corporate tools vs democratic socialists, at the same time we see a fracture among the GOP wrt antisemitism vs slaves of Israel.

A bunch do pretend that he doesn’t exist- Schumer, Clinton et al
But most welcome his shake up of the party, and millions just voted for him. He’s a great voice for the disenfranchised, as well as for those who are simply being priced out of being able to continue living in New York.
He might even be a needed progressive voice on the national stage, but he will never be a candidate for president because he is ineligible

Yes, not born a USian, so ineligible.
"Democratic socialists" would provide an alternative to the bought corporate slaves, on both sides of the aisle, that we have now.
I still wonder who is Schumer "fighting for"? "We The People", or the health insurers that have given him nearly $3M over the years.

Exactly, though I’m sure he would say in his prayers to God that he is simply “conflicted”
We need campaign finance reform so a whole bunch of Democratic and Republican politicians can suddenly find their conscience that they hid in their safe deposit boxes, along with the IOUs they signed as the price of their huge campaign contributions.
Every month or so on Motley Fool, I’d scream “Campaign Finance Reform, Now!”. It felt like shouting into the void.
Every year, we see more clearly why this is needed, but I’m not sure we are any closer to a solution.

Because there's a lot of money in chipping away and canceling any reform we do. Then we get done in by the Supreme Court who can be bought as Clarence has shown us.

Beshear is somebody ‘*I* could vote for. He makes far too much sense. His appearance on Bill Maher was fantastic.
Unfortunately, your party has to excise the crazies before he has a shot. Cory Booker is going to run. So will Pete Buttigieg. Both of them are totally incompetent but will play the “diversity” card to push people like Beshear aside.
Then there’s Gavin Newsom. In no objective measure has he been a good governor. None. But he’ll be one of your last 3 standing.
You’ve also got Kamala Harris there and she wants another shot.

No white male is qualified for the Democrat presidential nomination in 2028. It won't be Newsome, Beshear, Shapiro, Bittogieg or any other white male.
The direction of the Democrat party is further left, further radicalization. Sherill and Spanberger are both as brain dead as Kamala.
Mamdani is the voice of the Democrat party, but he's Uganda origin
The nominee will be AOC.

Well, look... we agree, so that's probably the kiss of death for Beshear. I would have preferred him in '24 but that's water under the bridge.
Well, look... we disagree on Booker and Buttigieg. Booker was mayor of Newark and has been a senator since 2013. Buttigieg was a cabinet secretary. Both have considerably more experience than Trumpedo or the Couchf*cker had before they ran for the WH.
But I don't see Booker winning the primaries. Buttigieg is the smartest, most articulate of the potential '28 candidates but I don't see him at the top of the ticket... yet. Harris? Nope.
I think there are a lot of ticket possibilities with Beshear at the top, such as Gallego, Grisham, Shapiro, Moore, Kelly, Buttigieg, or Whitmer.

Or the "victim" card. Bush #43, Hillary, and, especially, Trump, have played "victim" endlessly.
Then there’s Gavin Newsom.
Not a chance. His ex-wife was Jr's squeeze for a long time.. Remember her screeching at the 2020 plague era convention? Pure psycho. She will say anything to make Newsom look like a fool or a pervert.

"Mamdani and AOC are the leaders of the Democrat Party." - marco100
That is dumb, even for you.
99.99% of the people calling themselves Democrats have never voted for either AOC or Mamdani, furthermore they have never held leadership position in the Democratic party (i.e. Speaker of the House or such) so how could anyone call them leaders?
No. of Recommendations: 1
Actually, there are around 44 million registered democrats in the US and Mamdani got over 1 million votes, so he got about 2.3% of all democratic votes in America in a mayoral election.
No. of Recommendations: 0
Just like if some Republican Senator or Congressmen says stupid shit -- it's just a few percent of republicans who voted for him so it's not representative.
I agree!

Yep. Progressives make up ~12% of the democratic party. They are welcome but they are not large. And just so marco understands there were two main branches of socialism - one revolutionary and one not. Democratic Socialists never advocated for violent revolution - democracy would be retained, even in a full socialist state.

I guess his opinion doesn't matter to the highly privileged White ProGlibs either.
Mamdani is also going to be the Mayor of the largest most important city in the USA, many would say, the most important city in the entire world.

The original spelling was changed; the hyphen was removed from Al-gebra, so as not to tip off the Christians to the plot.
