God how this idiot in chief can drone on endlessly and meaninglessly. If there's a single audience member who isn't rolling their eyes at high speed and who hasn't long ago checked out of this useless kumbaya session, I'd be astounded.

Yes, calling for our soldiers to become War Criminals, so inspiring!...
Hegseth: "We unleash overwhelming and punishing violence on the enemy. We also don't fight with stupid rules of engagement. We untie the hands of our warfighters to intimidate,
demoralize, hunt, and kill the enemies of our country. No more politically correct and overbearing rules of engagement!"

You will get plenty of push back on "Hegseth ending on a high note", but at least you acknowledge that Trump has failed. Again. Just a reminder that Trump is incapable of building on anything. All he knows how to do is destroy, notwithstanding his long history as an urban real estate mogul.

Hegseth: As history teaches us, the only people who actually deserve peace are those who are willing to wage war to defend it. That’s why pacifism is so naive and dangerous.
...or from the Latin: Si vis pacem, para bellum.
It's a very simple concept, and one the Pentagon hopefully returns to.

Also more Hegseth:
“If the Secretary of War can do regular hard PT, so can every member of our joint force. Frankly, it's tiring to look out at combat formations or really any formation and see fat troops,” Hegseth said. “Likewise, it's completely unacceptable to see fat generals and admirals in the Halls of the Pentagon and leading commands around the country and the world. It's a bad look. It is bad, and it's not who we are.”
...whether you’re an airborne ranger or a chairborne ranger, a brand new private, or a four-star general, you need to meet the height and weight standards and pass your PT test.”
Right again. Standards are standards.

Right again. Standards are standards.
Sure.
Because if you have a general who's among the best in the world at military strategy, or overseeing the development of weapons programs, or managing the logistical demands of one of the largest organizations on earth, but is either disabled or older or just predisposed to being a little overweight in their older years, the best thing to do with that accomplished and talented military professional is fire them and replace them with someone who isn't as good at their job but runs a faster mile and looks good.
You know - because it's more important to judge people on their physical appearance and whether they can lift heavy things than whether they're good at the job of being a general or admiral.

Tell me you've never hung out with the military without telling me you've never hung out with the military. Part of being a soldier, sailor or Marine is readiness and overall physical makeup.
Physical readiness requires...discipline and dedication. Not to mention the fact that one of the most basic leadership principles in any system anywhere is
Not asking your troops to do anything that you're not willing to do. It's one of the foundational elements of any successful organization.
Some donut chugging fatass might be a great tactician but if he/she can't be bothered to do a couple of push ups and eat some salad once in a while...America can do better.
Here's the Army's AFT:
https://www.goarmy.com/how-to-join/requirements/fi...Deadlfting 140lbs is a
come on, man level of easy. A fit
40-something can go way past 300lbs especially with a hex bar.
10 pushups from a dead start in 2 minutes? Dude.
The sprint-drag-carry max time of 2:28 also isn't insurmountable.
A plank for a minute and a half? Train for like 2 weeks to get there.
Then run 2 miles at an 11 minute pace.
This isn't much to ask.

While in the service, being clean shaven is already a requirement. A service member can get a shaving waiver if shaving results in ingrowing hairs and pimples, but it must be neatly trimmed.
It is not lost on Hegseth that this is a problem that more affects Balck men.

Some donut chugging fatass might be a great tactician but if he/she can't be bothered to do a couple of push ups and eat some salad once in a while...America can do better.Do you think there are a lot of people in that situation? These are people that have been in the military for decades, and risen to the highest rank of military service. As you point out, dedication and preparedness are core principles of the service. If there are folks that don't meet 45-year-old Hegseth's standards for fitness, it might not be because they "can't be bothered" to stay in shape: it's probably far more likely that it's because they're in their 60's, or have been wounded or partially disabled, or have one of the
many conditions that come with aging that make it impossible to exercise with the same regularity as one can in their 40's.
But I get it. Why would you ever let a person who looks like
this:
https://www.usatoday.com/gcdn/media/USATODAY/USATO......continue to be a general? Clearly he's not fit to remain in service. Terrible example for the troops, doncha know - get someone in there that looks better on TV!

Hegseth ended on a high note, quite inspirational....A good speech. The bit about "toxic" leadership and "walking on egg-shells" particularly resonated, as I had plenty of bosses who let the whiners goof off, while they went looking for someone else to dump the work on.
A lot I could get behind, in principle. Without any DEI standards, will reality be white, male, only, because advancing anyone else will bring charges of "DEI", which makes Hegseth the sort of toxic leader he was complaining about.
And, did he *really* need to say that the prayer service he goes to is a "Christian" service?
Lastly, and OT, blue suit and brown shoes? Seriously? Brown shoes!!

Put Spankee on a public TV broadcast.
Then we can ALL watch him run the 6-minute mile and do ALL the military exercise stuff YOU SAY HE MUST BE ABLE TO DO.
NO ???

Not a surprise. Spankee's diaper dumped and there were *suddenly* LOTS of brown shoes. Replaced at federal expense, of course.

I agree. This past nine months have seen an abysmal degradation as concerns Ukraine. Trump has set a tone of isolationism as regards Europe that is foolish.
Plus- pulling all senior military leadership away from their duty posts in order to provide a photo op for Hegseth and Trump in Quantico was inviting disaster

Great. Please go pull the military health records of all these folks and prove us evidence of disabilities. We’d like to see that.
While you’re at it, please link us to Swartzkopf’s scores since you’re asserting - absent evidence - that he couldn’t pass the test.

This is quite the claim. What evidence do you have to back up this assertion? You’ve not posted anything that would indicate a slackening of American support for the Ukrainians.

Me too.
It would be Trump's last moment alive on Earth if he tried to jog a mile.
And that pasty ( when not layered up with more makeup than any drag queen in America ) doughboy couldn't do 5 pushups without wimping out.
But I'd sure luv to see him try.

What amazed me while looking at the sea of very experienced military personnel, was that not one of them is more qualified than Hegseth to lead the department of defence. Or perhaps more amazing to me was selected over all these people.

Or perhaps more amazing to me was selected over all these people. My decades of voting proxies for defense contractors tells me a lot of those flag rank officers are looking at a cush gig on the Board of one of those companies, to pedal his influence.
Hegseth already had a cush gig, running his mouth on Fox Noise.
As noted earlier, I could get behind a lot of what he said in that speech. I suspect, however, that the result will be using those broad principles to establish de facto racist/sexist policies. His PQ standards virtually eliminate women from any combat role, but, I can see a point. If you're wounded, and need a lot of help getting to relative safety, your mate needs to be able to lift your 6'2", 210lb self. No matter how much a 140lb woman may want to help, nearly give herself a stroke trying to help, you may both end up laying in the mud, because, short of loading up on testosterone, like a bodybuilder, the average fit woman, is going to have trouble lifting someone over 200lbs.
The most obvious likely result is a lilly white military. Besides the women and black men Hegseth has relieved of command over the last 8 months, there was one white, male, of note: Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force Gen. Jim Slife, a white man, who was regarded as favoring DEI policies. The Google net sifter mentions a memo Slife wrote, as relevant to the sudden end of his career:
Comments on racism: Slife himself had drawn criticism from Republicans for a 2020 memo in which he addressed institutional racism in the military, stating, "We'd be naive to think issues of institutional racism and unconscious bias don't affect us". Like in the Soviet Union, in Shinyland, bad things don't exist, if you prohibit talking about them.
Hegseth said, in an interview, in November 24:
“First of all, you’ve got to fire the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs,” Hegseth said in November on the Shawn Ryan Show podcast, shortly before Trump picked him to lead the Pentagon. “But any general that was involved—general, admiral, whatever—that was involved in any of the DEI woke s— has got to go. Either you’re in for warfighting, and that’s it. That’s the only litmus test we care about.” https://www.airandspaceforces.com/brown-generals-f...With that anti-DEI bias, every other officer, who promotes anyone other than a white, Christian, man, will open himself up to cries of "DEI" by some butt-hurt white guy, who was passed over, and find himself on the absolute bottom of the promotion list, or separated. In effect, Hegseth will be the sort of toxic commander, keeping everyone walking on egg-shells, lest some white guy be offended, that he criticized in his speech.
So, if you eliminate the women, and POCs, and those not PQ, the US is going to have a pretty small military. Anyone up for a return of the draft?

if you eliminate the women, and POCs, and those not PQ
Spankee is the *definition* of a POC. So he is "DEI hire" and must be dismissed immediately as he took the spot of a white man.
