Yes, I've been reading about the statistics. Yes, Republicans in particular seem to want to believe it is getting worse.**

However, the increase in 2020 I thought was mostly being attributed to COVID, and the restrictions that required. I don't recall where I heard it, but someone joked that the rise in violence was because families had to spend time with each other at home instead of escaping to school, work, vacations... (yeah, they phrased it so it was actually funny...I am not a comedian).

So with the lifting of restrictions, and life going back to normal, I would expect a drop in the crime that increased when the restrictions were imposed. Regardless of who is POTUS.



**Though I know a few religious people that say we're close to "end times" because things are getting "worse and worse". Except they aren't, which I point out to them every time they bring it up. People are living longer, fewer people are in poverty (as a percentage of the population), crime (especially violent crime) is near historic lows, etc. But they still insist it's getting "worse and worse".
