Biden's speaking style is to try to generate some empathy with his audience by way of some personal anecdote or story that he tries to relate to whatever the situation is. Problem is most of his stories are...questionable...in terms of how accurate they are.

Also a fair point - but not the one that the article was making. It's a good thing that the President is trying to show empathy, not a good thing if he's taking liberties with the anecdotes he shares....but neither of those things is comparing the Maui wildfire to a small kitchen fire.
