Max Olson, who publishes periodic compilations of Berkshire Hathaway annual letters, has confirmed that Buffett will no longer write these letters after his retirement. In other words, the 2024 letter was his last.
First of all, who is Max Olson, and how would he know?
Second, even if it’s true, he is not retiring. He will be the chairman of the 11th biggest public company in the world, by market capitalization.
Third, it would be natural for Abel to preside over the annual meeting, but the letter is a report on the company’s performance in the previous year, so unless he can’t do it, I expect Buffett, as CEO for all of 2025, to write most of the 2025 Annual Shareholder Letter. I could be wrong, but I am unconvinced by Olson’s so-called ‘confirmation’.
