AKA profit guarantees for those with the right connections....and more direct state control of corporations

Trump administration will set price floors across range of industries to combat China, Bessent says

The U.S. has to use industrial policy to compete against non-market economies like China, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told CNBC.

The Trump administration will set price floors across a range of strategic industries to combat Beijing, Bessent said.

The administration could take equity stakes in more companies in the wake of China’s new restrictions on rare earth exports, he said.

Clearly, Lord Trump wants to be CEO of the world. CEO of major corporations. CEO of Venezuela. CEO of Gaza.

All hail the God King, Orange Stay Puft, first of his name

"Clearly, Lord Trump wants to be CEO of the world. CEO of major corporations. CEO of Venezuela. CEO of Gaza."

mofo is exactly like the villians in the old Bond movies. World Domination,
no less, no more,lol.

Been watching a few utube vid's of farmers cryin a river over tariffs.
I personally like to eat, so in that regard am pro-farmer. But a blind man
could have seen this coming, only have to go back in the memory banks to Trump's
1st term. But still the farmer vote was overwhelmingly for Trump.
Of course, they'll get another Trump bailout, that's a given.
But at what future cost ??

Watched Lutnik, or maybe Bessent, doesn't matter which one the playbook is the
same, being interviewed. They claimed the tariffs were to open up markets.
They said the China market was totally closed to US Ag exports. But in 2024,
the US Farmers exported what, $25 Billion in ag products to China. That, to me,
sounds like the China market was at least partially open. In October of
2025, farmers now crying a river over how none of their crops are being bought
by China, and that the rest of the world is picking up the slack. So even
when farmers get the coming bailout, they fear that Trump has pushed China into
discovering that US Ag is replaceable. Sum-bitch, who'd of thunk it ???
So even if tariffs are called off, China has found viable ag trade partners.
China will use this leverage. Even if they start buying from US farmers again,
they'll price shop them against World farmers, so lower income for US farmers
appears to be a "best case" scenario.

Yeah, Trump is an effin genius negotiator. Using the same game plan
he used when he ran his sure-thing casinos into the ground: Scorched Earth, lol

Frankly, farmers are expert whiners, about everything. "weather is too hot/too cold/too wet/too dry, government price supports aren't fat enough, government doesn't protect them from competition enough". I remember a piece in Newsweek, years ago, a candidate for POTUS in Iowa, talking with farmers. While the cameras were rolling, the farmers cried a river about how hard it is to make ends meet farming. After the cameras were turned off, the candidate turned to one of the farmers, to ask what he was going to do for the rest of the winter. The farmer and his wife were taking off for three months in Hawaii. My mom retired to Arizona. A lot of her neighbors in the retirement community were retired plains farmers. They all agreed, the farmers that got in trouble were bad businessmen.
