Jeez this is terrible. A little time has passed, and while there's only a little more info it seems inarguable that this was a failed assassination attempt. Shooter was apparently in an elevated position outside the venue.
It appears that one attendee was shot in the head and died instantly, two others hurt badly and in critical condition. Trump's team has given every indication that his wound was not serious, but that's still a horrible thing.

Now watch the Democrats shower Trump with love and affection. They dare not criticize him at least for the next week.
The man has luck and Biden on his side. Hard to see why he won't win in a landslide now.
I think the only strategy left to the Democrats is to not paint Trump as an existential threat or a Fascist dictator, but rather treat him as a misguided child who cannot do an adult job like being a president. unfortunately, he already was one, and had a mixed, but not terrible record.

First off, I do agree with you. Sadly - this is political gold for Trump. No question.
*But* when you or other libs criticize Biden and dump on Biden I just want to offer one thing about how bad Biden is as a candidate:
For 20_ years since the TMF days I have been known as one of the 'Righties'.
Proudly loudly voted Bush twice. Opposed Obama's platform other than ACA. Voted Trump 2016. Have called Liberals all sorts of nasty stuff as part of the TMF political mud wrestling pro package.
And.......I openly voted for Biden and said I'd do so again.
Biden wasn't a bad candidate. he was a good one.

In 2020, non-sexy Biden beat Trump. People's jobs and fortunes were in peril. They voted non sexy.
Agree with you on the no sexy part *but*......look at the mid-terms post Roe v Wade cancellation. Republicans should've walked away with that one, yet, Democrats had a very impressive showing even with non-sexy Biden around.
We may never know the answer but if Dems hadn't spent 1-2 weeks of news cycle piling on Biden, AND Dems would've made it a simple choice "Elect Biden, save your abortion rights and social security, elect Trump, wave your flag and see you in the back alley with with doctors doing abortion and your Mom's social security check shredded".....methinks, they'd have won.
You make a good point about Trump being clever n those issues. *But* there IS material of him saying otherwise in exact terms. If I was a Biden advisor, those snippets would be every 30 second ad from now until the end of the world.

Democrats piled on Biden because the whole country saw what an awful, weak, old, horrible, senile candidate he is. Before the debate I didn't hear a lot of Dems complaining. Clearly his unfitness to lead and govern was kept under wraps.
I was willing to entertain the thought that maybe it was just one bad night. Biden was surprisingly good during the post-NATO-summit news conference. But then Clooney and others came out and spoke the truth about his decline.
Add to that the fact that Trump has promised me the world and Biden doesn't seem to make any promises. None that I know of. He just keeps talking about how Trump is an awful choice. That's really not enough to get my vote.

I totally get where Knight is coming from.
I just feel that abortion and social security - are indeed sexy. It's a different kind of porn. It's not as good as girl on girl....but *does* get the voters attention and it does sway elections.
All I know is if the effort to boot Biden were rather spent on scaring Granny about her social security, and making sure every suburban woman and her college age daughter know that Mullah Omar will be the only one allowed to perform abortion.....the vote WOULD come out.
A dear friend of mind I had puppy love with in 7th grade who is now my good buddy. She lived in California most of her life, was rather Conservative. Master's education BUT she was into the whole Obama-Kenya thing. Very religious "praise god" for this and that. Excellent nuclear family for her as a kid, and now with her own family.
Anyhow about 8 years ago she moved to Texas. She told me "I'll be away from the California fruits I'm more comfortable here" certainly she thrived professionally, bought nicer home, all that stuff. I just met her in person this year after a decade and all her friends were talking about "looney liberals" and she was pensive. I whispered to her that I could tell her views have changed.
Her words were "I guess I'm more liberal than I thought. They all want guns here and I'm scared for my kids. And the abortion thing, I dont love abortion but I dont want it banned'.
A few nights ago she emailed me how Biden is the only choice and it's due to abortion.
Ok so it's a focus group of one.
I still cite the previous mid-terms where Dems had a higher showing due to Roe.
