Oil rally loses steam after Israel agrees to negotiate with Lebanon

The oil rally subsequently eased after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel would negotiate with Lebanon “as soon as possible.” Israel’s military campaign in Lebanon against Iran’s ally Hezbollah threatens to unravel the ceasefire between Washington and Tehran.

The agreement in 24 required Lebanon to disarm Hezbollah. Problem is, Hezbollah is larger than the Lebanese army.

So, is this a good faith negotiation, on Israel's part? Or is it a scheme to get the Hezbollah honchos together, so they can be killed?

It's a scheme to appease Trump, who is being blackmailed by the Iranians to save Hizbollah as part of the agreement to stop the war in Iran. The Iranians are giving Trump a lesson in negotiations. While the attacks on Iran have ceased, Iran is still holding the Strait of Hormuz hostage, so they can extract concessions in Lebanon. Netanyahu, who would like nothing more than the war to continue, is sending his ambassador in Washington DC to "negotiate" with the Lebanese ambassador. These are third tier diplomats who have no authority to make any meaningful agreement. Meanwhile, Netanyahu continues to bomb Lebanon, hoping to draw Iran and the U.S. back into the war.

BTW, Netanyahu's public approval in Israel is about as low as Trump's approval in the U.S., if not worse.

Both Netanyahu and Trump encourage their followers to silence critics of their criminal regimes.

Netanyahu encourages his followers to call his critics “anti-semitic”. If the critics are Jewish, they’re “self-hating Jews.”

Trump is a little more unfocused, with “anti-American commie whacko lefties afflicted with TDS.”

maybe Lebanon would pacify if Bibi stopped invading/bombing/occupying them. And also disavowed his frequently stated plans to annex parts of Lebanon.
