I went to my local No Kings protest today. It’s a small suburb but I estimate 3,000 folks were there (other’s estimated higher).
It was a nightmare! People were rioting. Police were attacked and hundreds of law officers were injured! 5 people died! Pepper spray and bear spray were in the air! People attacked others with baseball bats, metal poles, and more! Buildings were severely damaged! They even made a gallows and threatened to hang the Vice-president!!
Oh, wait. That was from my January 6th notes. My bad. Ah, just found today’s notes.
There were more American flags than a July 4th parade. Children were smiling. No one was even remotely injured. Everyone was treated with respect. Police and protesters talked with each other. Police anctually helped people cross the street. Ages ranged from babies to old farts (seriously, there were people older than me!). No cars or property were damaged. Not even Teslas. Signs were funny, clever, serious, and I did not see any spelling erors. There were a few folks in military uniform. No worry, they were protesting.
People even liked my sign:
“It’s so bad, I miss Dick Cheney!” [with a picture of Darth Vader, of course].
I guess Republicans and Democrats protest differently.

And today, President Trump is still our President.🥳
It was a nice day to go for a walk though.

Some great video of the stuff being spewed at NoKings Seattle:
I was in grad school, when Reagan named David Stockman to head OMB. One of my profs lived in Stockman's district. I saw one of the candidates to replace Stockman on TV. Commented to the prof I had seen him. The prof said "oh, the Nazi?"
A few years later, I was working in RS, and a guy started ranting at me about the "one worlders".
But nether was assaulting people. I didn't see anyone assaulting anyone in that video you linked to either.

The response from MAGA propagandists to No Kings followed their usual playbook:
Find a couple of randos saying something dumb out of 8 million & blow them up on social media.
Predictable. Same old act.

The United States of America’s population is 340,110,988....
332,110,988 Americans did not take part in the NoKing walk in the park.
They couldn’t care less. Neither did President Trump.

Only 77,302,580 voted for Lord Trump. That means 262,808,408 did not. Therefore his regime is illegitimate.

MAGA influencers were out in force- prodding, poking and provoking- trying to get someone, anyone- to say or do something stupid, and in a country that fielded millions of protestors on Saturday, that’s not a difficult thing to do.
But the last word goes to police departments across the land. Most reported few problems and no arrests.
Again, with millions of protestors in the streets, that’s quite the feat, and a real testament to the spirit of the day.
But Dope keeps looking for his violent protestors. On Saturday, he got baby strollers, Inflatable dinosaurs and the widest array of creative, hand-drawn signage.
Saturday found my wife and I driving to the Outer Banks. A quick look at our phones told us that a nearby rally was occuring in Wilmington North Carolina, so we took a quick detour and drove through the city- through the several blocks long protest area. The crowd was young. The crowd was old. The signs were all hand drawn and creative- not a manufactured…. not a single shop printed, “Soros funded” sign was in evidence. The cars honked. The people cheered. “Laughter” was the uniform of the day.

The word I've heard over and over is "joyous". Seems to capture the mood pretty well. Wonderful so see so many patriots.

“The formal vote in the Electoral College went as projected. Trump won 312 votes, and Kamala Harris won 226. More than 155 million Americans voted in 2024: 156,302,318 to be exact.
That’s the second largest total voter turnout in U.S. history in absolute terms. It is also just the second time that more than 140 million people voted in a presidential election.
Trump flipped six states on his way to winning the Electoral College: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Every other state voted in 2024 as it did in 2020.”

Shades of Kamala's "joyful warrior" campaign, perhaps. Oh, what could have been. ☹️

That joy was evident in the AI video he posted, of him wearing a crown, flying a fighter jet, and crapping on the American people.
Actually, the video was a perfectly accurate portrayal of his presidency.

They are all anti-American. Which is why they could not care less. Unless, of course, they were NOT in power. Then their noise level is FAR louder--and less intelligible--than being in the takeoff boosters of the SLS.

Your conclusion doesn't follow from your premise. A logical fallacy.
I care a great deal, but I didn't go to the rally. I'm not plugged-in enough to know it even happened until after the fact.
At least 75M people care because that's how many voted against the Felon. And since we had only about 60% turnout, it is likely more than that.

Your conclusion doesn't really follow. He was duly elected by the system we have in place. He won straight-up. I would agree he doesn't have a "mandate". He didn't even get 50% of the vote. But he is not illegitimate.
Also, your number includes people ineligible to vote (e.g. children).

I was calling out the nonsense of LM's argument, in my own way, by applying the same measure: only a minority of the potential participants actually voted for her God and Savior, therefore, his regime is not legitimate.

Actually, tangentially, I would love a system where you have to have a run-off if someone doesn't get at least 50%+1. As you say, getting less than 50% -while legitimate in our system-, still sort of isn't legitimate (in a non-legal sense).

As you say, getting less than 50% -while legitimate in our system-, still sort of isn't legitimate (in a non-legal sense). Don't you love the maps the people on the right like to show? It's apparently a county map, of the US showing how each place voted. It shows the vast majority of the surface area of the US red, but only a few bits, like the California coast and the north east, in blue. The righists complain it shows how unfair the US election system is, because only a few cities outweigh the votes of the majority of the area of the country. Do they seriously contend dirt should vote, instead of people?
Ah, here's an example. I have seen purported maps with even less blue on them. The righties cry "unfair, unfair! most of the country votes red!!" without acknowledging the population density difference between many red areas vs blue.
