I know this is way out there, but I'd like to hear the pros, cons, and discussion about a Kamala Harris / Liz Cheney ticket. Liz did say she'd do whatever it took to keep Trump out of the White House. It would likely peel off some Republicans from Trump but also probably peel off some Democrats from Harris. Thoughts?

Fully understand where you are coming from but methinks the "peeling off" of voters has to be done in a more strategic and concentrated way.

If I was Team Harris - it would certainly be about peeling off voters but it would be laser light focus on Ohio, PA, Michigan et cetera.

There's a woman heading the ticket.

I'd insist on a White Male who speaks Heartland.

As Dope1 was the first to say here - Shapiro is a strong choice.

Beshear - whom I've been touting for over a year here - is too strong and I like him so selfishly I hope he sits this out and comes back later on.

There's others that I know you've read like the rest of us.

Also on a side note I haven o idea what Harris foreign policy consists of but Lizzy is pure 100% Neo-Con.

That means Harris would have to hire food tasters. I'm dead serious.

The Cheney's have done a lot of damage to our great nation over the years. It's a toxic brand despite Liz's "deathbed conversion" to the Light.

It amazes me how speaking against Trump is so big to these people that they forget everything vis a vis PNAC and Iraq.

If Donald want's Liz's support all he needs to do is start World War 3, preferably with a nuclear exchange.

Lizzy will sit on his lap and call him Daddy.

She has integrity and respects the Constitution. Other than that she is the opposite of everything Democrats stand for. I’m not sure there is much more to discuss.

I’ve seen other columnists suggest some other Republican for the VP slot: Kizinger from Illinois or some other variant. Why? So if Kamala is assassinated we get a Republican President? I don’t think so. The VP is required to break ties in Congress, which means following the party’s line. A Republican might. Or might not.

Silly idea.

Not. A. Chance.

After doing a little research last night, Kelly is the smart choice. He's the only candidate who addresses the democrats most serious weakness: he comes from a border state, Latinos like and respect him, and he understands how to talk about border security without alienating either side. He a veteran, a legitimate American hero, an astronaut, and generally speaking is a centrist who also happens to be married to former U.S. Rep. Gabby Giffords, who was shot in the head during a 2011 mass casualty event at a Tucson grocery store. Together, they have a powerful, personal story about gun violence in America, while, at the same time, being a gun owner. He has the least political experience but has been a winner at every challenge he's faced.

Beshear, 46, would be an outstanding pick for his ability to appeal to Rust Belt swing voters but electorally, it's doubtful he could deliver his own solidly red state.

Harris has said North Carolina governor Cooper is a “dear friend” and they have a working relationship from when both served as their state’s respective attorney general. Plus, he's in his final term as governor. But... he was never able to turn his state legislature blue and republicans will undoubtedly claim some credit for his state's successful policies. Like Beshear, it questionable that Cooper can deliver an electoral victory in his state.

Pete Buttigieg would be the best and brightest of them all but America is not going to elect a Black woman and an openly gay man. And he, too, provides no electoral advantages.

YMMV.

Kelly is the smart choice.

Probably the best choice, but Arizona and California make the ticket heavily West, without a smattering of “Midwest”. Neither does Cooper, and I agree with your assessment there. Best would be Pete, but (again) agree that the country is not going to elect a black woman and gay man. My choice would have been Gretchen, a swing state in the middle of the country but again, two women, probably too soon for much fo the country.

Well, he grew up in NJ. And what's more all-American than an astronaut? But, yeah, I see your point. But then Clinton-Gore was a winning ticket.

Best of all: Kelly is an identical twin. Just think of all the conspiracy theories.

And Kelly would almost certainly be replaced with a Rep in two years, which would be bad.
