Isn’t that interesting…

I saw a video recently of Buffett talking about how quickly he was able to allocate capital after 2008. We probably underestimate how quickly Berkshire can get that ratio down to 100%. They don’t seem to like going much lower than 100%.

It’s interesting that as recently as 2022 Buffett was allocating a lot of capital (Occidental).

The cash is a big number but once they start, it can accumulate quickly enough, if the opportunity arises. And it’s probably only half of the cash that would be allocated.

Yes, there is likely at least $100B-$150B of excess cash, growing every day... won't be easy to deploy effectively. One of the issues is that the companies that are deploying the most capital already have solid balance sheets (MSFT, AMZN, GOOG, META).

Patience here is going to be super important.
