Someone should remind Lee: Mueller brought charges against 13 Russian nationals and 3 Russian companies for conspiracy to defraud the U.S. -- election interference -- as a direct result of the Russia probe.
You know what was criminal? First, Durham flying all over Europe with Bill Barr to try to run down every hare-brained conspiracy theory the former guy floated about Joe Biden.
And second, appointing Durham to investigate the origins of the Russia probe despite the fact that the DOJ had an internal investigator, the inspector general, who was already examining whether any misconduct led to the start of the Mueller probe into the Trump campaign. The IG found some errors in the probe, but the report discredited any allegations that it was an anti-Trump plot.
And you know what was a better example of using a "powerful, long-respected, federal law-enforcement agency to render a presidential candidate unelectable"? That would be Bill Barr repeatedly meeting with Durham during his investigation and then pressing Durham to release an interim report before the 2020 election. His demand was so egregious that Assistant United States Attorney Nora Dannehy resigned in protest from the Department of Justice's Russia probe.
