January increase in jobs much lower than expected (140K versus 170k), but for some reason the unemployment rate was also lower (4% versus 4.1%) than expected. It is almost like the labor force is shrinking for some reason:-)

And that closes the book an "Biden's" economy...
The January report, which effectively closes the book on the Biden-era job market, instead showed joblessness falling to 4% as the economy gained 143,000 jobs.

Except for January 1970, the unemployment rate is lower today than it was in *every single month* of the 1970s, 80s and 90s.

I for one am looking forward to seeing how Trumps numbers stack up.

Some of us believe one of Trumps main goals is to reduce interest rates. This would be a big boost for those into real estate:-)
We will see what the fed does based on these numbers, but it looks like a "no change" to me.

What makes you think you will get factual numbers from this administration? Seems highly unlikely.

And let’s remember to look for trends rather that data points.

However, let’s remember that the government producing those statistical reports is led by the guy who “corrected” a government produced weather map with his Sharpie.

Whose Labor Department was it that keeps revising jobs numbers downward long after the headlines had faded?

Hint: Wasn't Trump.

Who said nothing about it?

Hint: Wasn't the board's righties.

I am too. But I'm afraid that the numbers will be manipulated going forward.

I seem to recall a group called ShadowStats (or something like that) who provided independent macroeconomic numbers. Do they - or something similar - still exist?

Too bad there isn't a ShadowFacts, in homage to Gandalf's horse Shadowfax!
