Because of course they'd cave to the rants from the "talent". Only former Obama people are allowed to work there!
https://nypost.com/2024/03/26/media/nbc-news-to-dr...NBC News plans to drop former Republican National Committee boss Ronna McDaniel as a paid contributor after network stars including MSNBC primetime headliner Rachel Maddow and the co-hosts of “Morning Joe” blasted the decision to bring the Trump-backing politico on board.
The network has not made an announcement, but one is pending, according to Puck News. The Post has sought comment from NBC and McDaniel.
McDaniel is reportedly looking to hire a lawyer, according to Puck News.
Maddow, MSNBC’s most bankable name, said on her Monday show that hiring McDaniel was “inexplicable” and demanded that executives “reverse their decision.”I'm not sure what the problem with her was going to be. She would have been what all Republicans on NBC morph into" Somebody who says,
"You know, I just don't recognize this new extreme version of the GOP. Why, I remember when..." yadda yadda.

Someone at NBC made an incredibly bad decision based on wanting to "play both sides", and I bet they got a slew of letters from the viewers as well. The sooner she's gone the better, though I assume it could cost NBC a pretty penny to terminate her contract prematurely. I'd also bet that whoever signed off on this will soon be looking for a new job.

Yes, here is a partial list of the former Obama people who work or have recently worked at NBC:
Megyn Kelly, given her own program on NBC, appeared on numerous NBC news programs, who came straight from FoxNews. I admit not remembering when she worked for Obama.
Nicole Wallace, ran the Press Office for George W. Bush, given her own daily program on MSNBC. I confess not remembering when she worked with Obama, either.
Shepard Smith, former Fox News anchor, ran a nightly news program on CNBC, made appearances on other NBC programs. Again, my memory is probably failing me, but I don’t remember his position in the Obama administration.
Marc Short, Republican advisor to multiple administrations, is a paid contributor to NBC and CNBC. I guess I have to repeat myself; just don’t remember the photo-ops with him and Obama.
I’m sure there’s a similarly long list of people from the Obama administration that Fox News has hired, but (forgive me) the memory fades. Perhaps you could provide a sampling?

She's there to be the Reliable Republican Who Wonders What Happened To The Party She Loves. Thanks for making my point here.
You can put former GOP Chair Michael Steele in this bucket also.

Don't know, don't care. That wasn't the point, but you knew that when putting together this exercise.
I'll note you omitted all the dnc shills that NBC now employs, like Psaki and F. Chuck Todd and the others. Say, where's KJP gonna work for her next gig?

Sure, I understand. The only good Republicans are the ones who advocate overthrowing the government. Traditional Republicans like Reagan (who worked with Democrats) or Eisenhower (who worked with Democrats) or Bjush (who worked with Democrats) are not to be trusted.

Sure. And I have a list of Republicans that NBC does or has employed. You haven’t given me a list of Democrats that Fox News or NewsMax or any of those employs. Haven’t got the time to find them? (Hint: totally useless search.)
The New York Times and Washington Post have Conservative columnists. How many do you think appear on the Wall Street Journal editorial page?
And you continue to complain about “the liberal media.” You guys are so cute.

That wasn't my point, but I can see how if one only gets a steady diet of nbc/msnbc that would be what you'd have been conditioned to believe.
For nbc/msnbc, the only "Real Republicans" are ones that agree with democrats on 99% of the issues -or- who are merely there to say how Cray Cray the party is nowadays. They gotta earn a buck, too donchaknow.

Two part answer here:
1. That's nice; don't care.
2. I don't go on rock fetching exercises any more.
The New York Times and Washington Post have Conservative columnists.
HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!!!!
David "I sure like Barack Obama's pants" Brooks...isn't a conservative. Jennifer "Florida is where economic futures go to die" Rubin isn't either.
Thanks for the laugh!

If I'm going to be cynical, he could be a "two-fer"...a token black and a token Democrat.
But it is a legit answer to Gh's question...FAUX Noise has at least one Democrat on staff. (I have no idea if he's a progressive, or conservative Dem, or what).

Definitely not my former employer. Yes, we had the HR rules about sexual harassment and such. But it was FAUX Noise on the TVs in the cafeteria, all day every day. And our CEO was not shy about complaining about SCOTUS decisions (specifically, I recall prayer and reciting the pledge).
When we tried to get "equal time" for other news channels, they wouldn't do it.

Employees (and viewers? I didn't follow in any great detail) spoke out, management listened, decided they'd made a mistake, and changed course. Is something wrong with that? Sounds like good management to me. We all make mistakes, even those in high places.
Definitely not Trump's style, of course. He wants only yes-men, and anyone who disagrees with him is s*%t-canned. Hmmm...rather dictatorial, no? It's one thing to do that in your own business, but another thing entirely to do it in government.

Those of us who were once ignorant enough to watch msnbc, might ask how many times was Avanati a featured guest on your network ? Mike Cohen ? Adam Schiff and Nadler ? EXPERTS who provided covid vaccine, misinformation? EXPERTS who assured us the Hunter laptop story was, fake Russian misinformation ? EXPERTS who assured us Smollett was jumped by two guys wearing maga hats , etc. HOW several hours on msnbc or FOX continue to attract more than a few hundred thousand viewers is a total mystery ??

Ronna McDaniel’s tenure at NBC lasted four days. It ended last night, after network anchors and reporters blasted NBC’s decision to hire her last Friday. They argued that hiring her gave a green light for election deniers to spread lies as paid contributors.
A perfectly sound reason for the staff rebellion. No way should any legitimate media give voice to the election denying LIARS. There are already plenty of corrupt media out there happily supporting the false stolen election narrative of DJT.

What percent of her on-air time do you think she would be preaching stolen election? I think it would be damn near zero, but let's say it is 5%. Whatever MSNBC program she spouts off on, surely the host(s) could crush and embarrass her back with the "facts". This on-air whipping would certainly please the audience.
Perhaps the larger, but unstated, reason she had to go was the other 95% of her air time. The other MSNBC hosts did not want their audience to be exposed to the conservative point of view. Why risk their ratings, or worse still, lose some of the captive fealty to liberal dogma. IMHO that is, so flame away....

Fair point. OTOH, I don’t think Donna Brazil told staffers to subvert the Constitution or break any other laws. I could be wrong but I don’t recall those headlines.
Contrary to BHM’s contention, it isn’t about “exposing liberals to conservative viewpoints”, it’s about rewarding and giving time to an election denier, someone who was in a position to counter a vastly false narrative, and who did nothing. Actually worse, she stood by and participated in phone calls and some of the schemes to get legitimate electors thrown out and false electors included.
Such behavior should not be rewarded.
I am pretty sure there will be “Conservative voices” included in the MSNBC lineup, just not those who have proven themselves unable to follow the law. (I’d even go further and suggest there will be more conservative voices on MSNBC and there will liberals on Fox, but that’s just my cynical speculation.)

She was caught red handed giving Hillary debate questions ahead of her debating Trump. That behavior was "rewarded" I guess by being welcomed by the FOX team unlike the liberal hissy fit that Ronna received by her new/short lived fellow work mates. She will probably be "rewarded" with a healthy settlement from NBC however.

Fine if they do. Having their hosts ideas challenged and their audiece being exposed to alternative perspectives is a good thing.
Boater has listed five or six liberals that are on Fox, regularly, and have been for years.
But your use of "will be" suggests that conservative contributors don't exist at MSNBC right now but will in the future. I don't follow MSNBC, but for those who know, has there been a recent management decision to broaden the MSNBC audience and perhaps Rona was their first awkward attempt at doing so?

So let's recap what we've learned in this thread. Thanks to you guys for looking up all the Fox democrats hosts; turns out that Fox has a far more balanced stable of contributors than the nbc universe of networks does and that viewers who tune into Fox are therefore...exposed to far more varieties of information than people who just take whatever Rachel Maddow says at face value.

This was not an all inclusive list just a few that came to mind...also Marie Harf. What this clearly shows is that FOX welcomes diverse views while NBC is afraid of them

Boater:
She was caught red handed giving Hillary debate questions ahead of her debating Trump. That was during the
democratic primaries when Clinton and Sanders were competing for the nomination, not during the general election cycle when Clinton debated Orange Jesus.
Also, the questions Brazile suggested might be asked were pretty obvious ones: in Flint, about protecting the water. And another about the death penalty.
Plus, the Sanders camp never actually denied that they also received advance notice of question content but since their email was not hacked like the Clinton campaign's email, there's no way to know for sure.
In any event, the questions were pretty useless given the damage Brazile did to Clinton in the eyes of Sanders' supporters.
Seriously, though, are you actually trying to equate what Brazile did by leaking some possible debate questions to Clinton during the democratic primaries with what McDaniel's did after Trump lost the election in a phone call in which she and then-president Trump pressured GOP canvassers in Michigan not to sign a certification of the 2020 election in order to overturn the presidential election and illegitimately keep him in the White House?

Nicole Wallace, communications director for George W Bush hosts a program every day, Monday thru Friday in the afternoon. Joe Scarborough, who hosts a 4 hour daily program each morning, was a 3 term Republican Congressman from the conservative Florida District 1.
That is at least 5 hours every day , right now, hosted by a conservative, although both have been critical of Trump, as have other conservatives like George Will, Liz Cheney, Mike Pence, Nikki Haley, John Kelley, Lisa Murkowski, Bill Barr, John Bolton, Susan Collins, Mitt Romney, John Boehner, Paul Ryan, Jen Bush, Chris Christie, Christine Todd Whitman, Marc Sanford, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ann Coulter, Carly Forina, Rupert Murdoch, and a host of others.
And they invite conservatives on in guest slots, as does Fox with liberals and CNN with both sides (occasionally).
Hope this helps.
