There has never been a military action in which the men leading it have had less moral stature and integrity.

Together, they are the unfittest of the unfit. They are a team of losers and felons, pedophile protectors, fascists, weirdos, religious nutters and weapons-grade hypocrites who are playing a game with young Americans lives.

There has never been a war started by the United States with less debate, less reason and more dubious claims.

America is a divided nation, fighting without allies.

He's stretching. We know, now, how flagrantly the Bush junta lied about Iraq. Being twenty years ago, the Bush junta did spend quite a while lying to the people, Congress, and the UN, before launching their war. Trump has had a couple bad months: losing his tariff case in SCOTUS, storm troopers generating outrage in Minneapolis, and the ever present danger of Epstein's Mossad honeypot being indisputably exposed. Time to prove what a big, powerful, man he is! Behold, the American Colossus, Trump the Magnificent!

This board is collectively dumber for having this posted here.

Seriously. How stupid do you have to be to write this? Has this guy lived in a cave the last 50 years? Was he like one of those Japanese soldiers who lived in the jungle since World War 2 and thought it was still 1975?

This earns like 9,000 Come on, mans. If this is the left wing position, then the left is more intellectually broken than I thought.

Nope, Dope. You’re wrong.

At least GWB had a casus belli (9-11) and went to Congress, as well as the United Nations. We now know how flimsy his evidence was, but at least he went through the motions.

Trump didn’t even bother with that. He simply took us to war without debate.

And MAGA’s just fine with that- as they were with Venezuela and at least the prospect of illegally annexing Greenland.

Bush the elder's adventure in Panama? How much was that aired?

Or Saint Reagan's adventure in Grenada. That was certainly a hurry up job, to get the bombing of the Marine barracks in Beirut off the front page.

Or the op to snatch Maduro.

Give me a bit of time, and I'll probably remember more.

I agree that these are problematic, but both Grenada and Panama were over and done in a matter of hours.

This is Iran we’re talking about. Donald Trump may have just committed us to a huge regional/world war.

With no debate, no discussion.

I forget. Did we have an excuse for that one, or was it just because he was a "flaky barbarian"?

Not that I recall. Mohamar Qaddafi had voluntarily given up his WMD right after 9/11 but Hillary! and Obama wanted a scalp.

I asked the net sifter about the excuse for Libya. Seems we suckered the UN again.

The 2011 US and European Union (NATO) intervention in Libya was primarily justified under the banner of
humanitarian intervention and protecting civilians, authorized by UN Security Council Resolution 1973. However, the campaign, which aimed to stop Muammar Gaddafi's forces from attacking rebels in Benghazi, evolved into a broader mission of regime change, according to analysts and after-action reports

That's a hot one. Protecting rebels, from Kaddaffi. Is the UN saying governments have no right of self defense against rebellion? That's a pant load.

America is a divided nation, fighting without allies.

While that is surely true, I would bet nearly all of our allies approve, even if they can’t/won’t say so. (Canada already has.)

The Ayatollah was an incompetent moron, leading his nation from riches to poverty, encouraging and funding terrorism throughout the region - including to other muslim countries, and (need I remind?) killing between 5,000 and 10,000 of his countrymen for having the temerity to voice their opinion in public - as only the latest outrage.

It’s good that he is dead, and it’s hard to imagine that what follows will be worse. It might be the same, given the power structure in place, but he was an absolute zealot in every manner of being.

Coalition building takes time, getting a Congressional vote takes time, and Trump would surely fail at the former and it’s not clear he would be successful at the latter. That said, there are times when I have to hold my nose and hope for the best. This is one of them. Shrub’s Iraq adventure was another and it turned out badly. His father’s was one I supported and it went OK until the end when we mysteriously decided not to prosecute it further. (Perhaps, given what happened when Shrub did, he was right?)

Anyway, yes, no allies. Also no busybodies trying to inject their opinion. You know, like the East Wing, or the Kennedy Center, or ICE in Minneapolis, or … At some point he has to get lucky and have something turn out OK, don’t you think?

Why are you not considering Israel and countries in the Middle East hosting US bases as allies?

I've read previous posts of yours, and respect your opinion.

I can't tell if this post of yours is sarcasm, or not.

If it's not sarcasm, please point out to me anything that Trump
has done that has legit turned out well. Trump is the biggest
eff up I have ever experienced, on all of my many years on the planet.

Explain to me how this is gonna make America great again, lol.

Regime change is needed, in America. We ain't much better than Iran.
Trump has a secret police killin people in America, just like they do in the Middle East.

The UK and France don't want Trump the Great and Powerful to put a 100% tariff on their goods. Why do you think Canada jumped on board so fast? The Gulf states know who has more ammo.

The GCC wanted to sit this one out but Iran took that off the table by attacking them.

The French are mad because they droned their naval base.

That is the one that puzzles me. Why attack Oman, which was trying to mediate a deal? Or Bahrain? Or the Emirates? Qatar and Kuwait both host US bases. I can see attacking the bases, but why civilian targets? Maybe Iranian command and control are disrupted enough that units aren't sure who to shoot at, so they just shoot? Or, maybe it's a strategy to paint the entire Gulf as a war zone, so shippers keep their ships out, which they are doing? The chances of the Gulf states wanting to get their skirts mussed is pretty slim. They are probably content to let the US and Israel duke it out with Iran.

The War Powers Act does not require "discussion" or "debate" with Congress. It just requires the Executive Branch to "brief" Congress and keep them up to date on what is going on with the situation.

The Iranian regime insists on being belligerent fuckwits causing all kinds of problems via their proxies like Houtis,Hezbollah, Hamas, etc.

They seem to be really slow learners so Trump needs to do a lot more killing over there.

Sorry but that's just the way it is, because that's how the mullahs wanted it.

They didn't learn to cool it after getting toasted last year.

They are like the Black Knight from Monty Python, gotta chop all the legs and arms off, then the head, and they will still be stirring up trouble world wide.

The Beeb is reporting tonight that Hezbollah has fired missiles into Israel. Israel has responded with more bombing (Israel has been bombing Lebanon every few days, in spite of the "cease fire" from the fall of 24). Israel is also calling up 100,000 reservists and advising residents of some 50 villages in Lebanon to evacuate.

Given that Ambassador Huckabee has given the color of US approval of the "greater Israel" project, it is not inconceivable that Israel intends to occupy Lebanon, permanently.

He got elected to the most important job in the country twice, beating more competent people both times. That is no small feat.

He has also amassed power in a way unseen since the beginning of the Republic, in contravention of all established norms, checks and balances, and other protections as exist in writing and in the history of the country. That is also a tough nut.

He has managed to convince half the voting public that he is a leader, that he has their interests at heart, and that he is fit to hold office, while arguably being the most execrable human being in recent memory, and he managed to choose and get approved the most incompetent slate of cabinet officials since the positions began, many 250 years ago.

Finally, I’ll just say that he somehow still gets banks to fund his escapades in spite of being a serial bankruptcy participant, he gets contractors to work for him knowing they may not get paid, and gets people to give him adulation in spite of his lack of loyalty to anyone but himself.

And he’s not in jail.

I’d say that’s a pretty good list of things “he has done well.” If, in upside down world you think any of this is admirable.
