Yep.

90s.

00s.

The Perotistas and Buchananites were warning about going all in on "free trade" not just with Mexico wut especially China. And yeah - like now as back then the Google Jockey will have "links" and man in those days the Google Jockey Caucus lectured the rest of us on how it'll be fine.

Here's to Janet Yellen, IN CHINA for bluntly calling out China for "coercive" actions.

Of course, between now and then Google Jockeys displaced many Americans and helped contribute to a growing and permanent underclass.

And yeah, you gave China all sorts of defense secrets, you taught them anything from making cars to making smartphones.

But hey, even the Google Jockey is learning how to be less clue impaired now.

Take that to the student union or wherever else on campus you like. lol

You understand it was Reagan and Republicans who changed the course of American trade policy in the 80’s, complaining about unions (who were opposed) and high manufacturing costs and the like. Democrats came to accept it after being pushed (to their own detriment), but make no mistake, this was a freeee market initiative embraces by the Libertarian think tanks and Reagan Republicans.

Now it’s Republicans, or at least Trumpites complaining about it, even though it’s a policy they set in motion 40 years ago. How ironic.

Reagan, however adhered to his free trade stance, and was the primary proponent of
the Free Trade Agreement with Canada, which evolved into the North American Free Trade
Agreement (NAFTA). He also signed, reluctantly, trade legislation designed to open foreign
markets to U.S. goods.

You think Democrats, who are heavily supported by unions, wanted jobs to move to Mexico and Canada? Don’t make me laugh. But Republicans built it to such a fever pitch that even Clinton had little choice but to sign the NAFTA agreement.

As well as notorious socialists like one William Jefferson Clinton:

https://www.historycentral.com/documents/Clinton/S...

Al Gore:
There are some issues that transcend ideology. That is, the view is so uniform that it unites people in both parties. This means our country can pursue a bipartisan policy with continuity over the decades. That's how we won the Cold War. That's how we have promoted peace and reconciliation in the Middle East. And that's how the United States of America has promoted freer trade and bigger markets for our products and those of other nations throughout the world. NAFTA is such an issue.

Bill Clinton:
In a few moments, I will sign three agreements that will complete our negotiations with Mexico and Canada to create a North American Free Trade Agreement. In the coming months I will submit this pack to Congress for approval. It will be a hard fight, and I expect to be there with all of you every step of the way. (Applause.)

We will make our case as hard and as well as we can. And, though the fight will be difficult, I deeply believe we will win. And I'd like to tell you why. First of all, because NAFTA means jobs. American jobs, and good-paying American jobs. If I didn't believe that, I wouldn't support this agreement.

Of course the issue is far more nuanced, but that's a debate for the Conservative board, not here.

Corporatist democrats can't stand themselves lol.

Bill Clinton was hugely instrumental in passing NAFTA. - and with China - PNTR and WTO

This writer for a decade on TMF wrote against him, NEWT, and anyone else about this stuff and the Google Jockey types had their links and their glib replies.

Here's to America for starting to have a clue.

Even the Google Jockey.

LOL - the Student Union was wrong.

Clinton had TONS of choice on NAFTA.

Perot had raised hell against it - just like he did on deficit which Clinton admits helped him pass his deficit package replete with a few more taxes.

Clinton did all he could to help pass it.

Nobody forced Gore to go on CNN and debate on BEHALF of NAFTA.

As har as China - lol it was Bill Clinton in bed with Charlie Trie, Johnny Huang, etc etc.

Corporatist Liberals: Just admit - you were for it. No different than Google Jockey Republicans.

For those Liberals that aren't Red Communists - how's it feel to have passed so much knowhow to China now?

You laid there.

You let China do it.

You even kissed China open mouth afterwards.
