How it started...
"The purpose of separation of church and state is to keep forever from these shores the ceaseless strife that has soaked the soil of Europe in blood for centuries."
~James Madison

"One good schoolmaster is of more use than a hundred priests." ~Thomas Paine

"The divinity of Jesus is made a convenient cover for absurdity. Nowhere in the Gospels do we find a precept for Creeds, Confessions, Oaths, Doctrines,
and whole cartloads of other foolish trumpery that we find in Christianity." ~John Adams

How it's going...
Mike Johnson, Boebert, Amy Coney Barrett, Donald Trump...

Facepalm...

"One good schoolmaster is of more use than a hundred priests." ~Thomas Paine

"The way to see by Faith is to shut the Eye of Reason." ~Benjamin Franklin

"Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured,
fined and imprisoned; yet we have not advanced one inch towards uniformity. What has been the effect of this coercion?
To make one half the world fools, and the other half hypocrites." ~Thomas Jefferson

How it's going...
Donald Trump appointed 3 religious morons to the Supreme Court and is now selling $60 Bibles, U.S. Constitution included!

Facepalm...

In an utterly cynical, but sadly successful, attempt to bamboozle the Christo-fascist know-nothings.

How it's going...
Speaker Mike Johnson has compared himself to Moses and thinks the earth is 6,000 years old...
"What does Mike Johnson think about any issue under the sun? Go pick up a Bible off your shelf and read it. That’s my worldview." ~Mike Johnson (Gay people should be stoned to death? That's what Mike thinks.)

Serial adulterer Donald Trump is comparing himself to Jesus, while selling "Trump Bibles, The only Bible endorsed by Donald Trump, get yours today for the incredibly low price of only $60." (Constitution and Lee Greenwood lyrics included! Fell free to ignore the "Thou shalt not commit adultery" part.)

The SCOTUS is packed up tight with religious zealots. (One of them has been affiliated with a religious group that practices speaking in tongues, healing services and divine prophecy.)

And finally republican leaders in Louisiana are forcing schools to hang the 10 commandments in every classroom.

Facepalm...

"Trumpery" - heh, heh...

I'll add one more to your excellent litany of the numerous downsides of Christianity and organized religion in general. From today's A.Word.A.Day mailing - https://wordsmith.org/words/lycanthropy.html

"Faith is a cop-out. If the only way you can accept an assertion is by faith, then you are conceding that it can't be taken on its own merits." — Dan Barker, former preacher, musician (b. 25 Jun 1949)

When in my early adolescence I started asking my Sunday school teacher questions about my religion and her answer was 'you just have to have faith', which meant nothing. That was the beginning of the end for religion for me.
