I just finished reading "2034: A Novel of the Next World War" (by Elliot Ackerman, Admiral James Stavridis USN) based on a recommendation from someone on Shrewd'M.

Anyway, it’s not bad, but the basic premise of a Chinese action in the South China Sea utilizing AI-based cyber warfare spinning out of control is worth pondering.

This is today’s news:

If it weren’t for Japan and Australia, I believe the Trump deal would be for Russia to get Ukraine, the US to get Greenland, China to get Taiwan and the Israelis send the entire Palestinian population to Somaliland and take Gaza, southern Lebanon and Syria. Easy-peesy – until Trump or Netanyahu or Putin decides they didn’t end up with enough and tries to take more.

A better written book about a previous war is "December 6" an historical thriller novel by Martin Cruz Smith, set in Tokyo on the eve of the Pearl Harbor attack. History tends to rhyme.
