We've seen redefining terrorism, so that it includes groups hard to think of as terrorists - only in a marco000 kind of way. Now we are redefining human rights. It is a human right to be a bigot and enforce your bigotry on an international industrial scale. My bigotry is the best! And my bigotry is defined by billionaires, which is selectively enforced and determined by bribery.

We should just send an envoy from Nobel saying that we will give him a Nobel Peace Prize if he forces Russia out of Ukraine. That would be worth it.

SNIP Countries enforcing race or gender diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies will now be at risk of the Trump administration deeming them as infringing on human rights.

The State Department is issuing the new rules to all US embassies and consulates involved in compiling its annual report on global human rights abuses.

The new instructions also deem countries that subsidise abortion or facilitate mass migration as infringing on human rights.

The changes, which the State Department says are intended to stop "destructive ideologies", have been condemned by rights campaigners who argue the Trump administration is re-defining long-established human rights principles to pursue ideological goals...

...The official added that rights were "given to us by God, our creator, not by governments".

Other policies by foreign governments which US embassies will be told to categorise as human rights infringements include:

Subsidising abortions, "as well as the total estimated number of annual abortions"
Gender-transition surgery for children, defined by the state department as "operations involving chemical or surgical mutilation...
to modify their sex"
Facilitating mass or illegal migration "across a country's territory into other countries"
Arrests or "official investigations or warnings for speech" - a reference to the Trump administration's opposition to internet
safety laws adopted by some European countries to deter online hate speech

State Department deputy spokesperson Tommy Pigott said the new instructions are intended to stop "new destructive ideologies [that] have given safe harbour to human rights violations".

My bigotry is the best! And my bigotry is defined by billionaires, which is selectively enforced and determined by bribery.

Nothing new under the sun department. Years, probably decades ago, I saw an interview with some right wing nutter, I forget who. The interviewer summed up the guy's position "you are demanding tolerance for your intolerance".

"you are demanding tolerance for your intolerance".

And the interviewer was likely referencing Karl Popper's Intolerance Paradox:

The paradox of tolerance is a philosophical concept suggesting that if a society extends tolerance to those who are intolerant, it risks enabling the eventual dominance of intolerance, thereby undermining the very principle of tolerance. This paradox was articulated by philosopher Karl Popper in The Open Society and Its Enemies (1945),[1] where he argued that a truly tolerant society must retain the right to deny tolerance to those who promote intolerance. Popper posited that if intolerant ideologies are allowed unchecked expression, they could exploit open society values to erode or destroy tolerance itself through authoritarian or oppressive practices.

In his own words:[1]

"[...] But we should claim the right to suppress them [intolerant ideologies] if necessary even by force; for it may easily turn out that they are not prepared to meet us on the level of rational argument, but begin by denouncing all argument; they may forbid their followers to listen to rational argument, because it is deceptive, and teach them to answer arguments by the use of their fists or pistols."

Me: We are at the point where we are not getting rational argument.

it risks enabling the eventual dominance of intolerance, thereby undermining the very principle of tolerance.

Same can be said of a democratic form of government. A truly democratic government can't ban factions that are anti-democratic, so the government is always vulnerable to anti-democratic takeover.

"You were given the choice between war and dishonour. You chose dishonour, and you will have war".

At least on this board, that is probably the reason some of us simply meet their irrationality and fact-free claims with "Horseshit".

It doesn't take saying it more than a few times to unmask the craziness.

oops: I still had an old quote in memory when I posted.

The quote I intended, from the OP, was:

"[...] But we should claim the right to suppress them [intolerant ideologies] if necessary even by force; for it may easily turn out that they are not prepared to meet us on the level of rational argument, but begin by denouncing all argument; they may forbid their followers to listen to rational argument, because it is deceptive, and teach them to answer arguments by the use of their fists or pistols."

You must be talking about how the tolerant Western World, with Enlightenment Values, has allowed the extremely intolerant Islamic world to start taking over in many places, and trying to impose Sharia law in place of Western democratic values; rape gangs to which Western leaders turn a blind eye; and so on.

The ProGlibs will be among the very first to lose their heads, and the decapitated heads will then have another 5-10 seconds to speak their final hypocritical words about "intolerance."

Changing the subject to whatever you want to pontificate about?

Decapitated heads don't speak because there is no lung pressure, etc.
