I swear Biden say "bestest" but his team had to try to clean it up. At the time I thought it was an unusually illiterate manner of speaking and perhaps indicative of mental decline. Who knows...

I've made similar word transpositions all my adult life and do not know why. I believe what was in his head was the following because I do it too:

One time long ago, at band camp, we were talking about the height of a boat's mast relative to the building adjacent to the dock and I said 'it's not four floories high." I was amused at my blending of floors and stories; 'floories'. (The boat had a jammed halyard/sheave and the brilliant owner, not wanting to pay the shipyard for crane time pondered heeling the boat to the building to access the jam.)

Make no mistake, I will vote for Biden if he is the final nominee. But I think, regardless of whatever his real situation is, the perception by the crucial voters (undecideds in states that matter for the electoral college vote) is that he is too old and may be on the decline.

and I should add that many of those voters seem so out of touch with political reality that they just don't understand the threat that a Trump Presidency would represent for our democracy.
