I use the STOCKHISTORY function in Excel for historic data download. More details are on Microsoft support page for STOCKHISTORY.

The excel function is:

=STOCKHISTORY(stock, start_date, [end_date], [interval], [headers], [property0], [property1], [property2], [property3], [property4], [property5])
