Trump is one devious sumbitch... or actually extremely stupid.... or perhaps psychotic?

The speech he made immediately after being convicted was brazen, full of lies, refusal to accept responsibility for what he had done. Most people understand that that sophistry was invoking 'hell' and 'devil' etc was utter bullsh!t

Is he really so stupid he doesn't understand that what he did was illegal?

A jury of his peers understood that what he did was illegal.

It was just a matter of time before his lifetime of defrauding people, charities, and now voters, caught up with him.

We're a nation of laws and Trump has been stretching and breaking them for a long time.

He's a felon. EOM.

He would appear to have some dementia, and may be psychotic. I checked the definition, and I don't think sociopath is accurate for him. Of course, I'm not a professional, and to my knowledge he had never submitted to testing.

My impression of him is that he has no respect for law, especially when it is contrary to his desires. Laws are for everyone else, not for him.

I'm really looking forward to Georgia. They have him on tape blatantly asking for an official to break the law. Unless there is some wrinkle I'm unaware of, that should be a really speedy trial.

I got it! He reminds me of Leona Helmsley. Except for law. "Only little people have to obey laws".

He might also share that sentiment about taxes, but clearly he feels that way about the law.

And, just to head off the anticipated partisan reply, if a Dem violates the law, haul their asses to jail, too. No one is above the law, no matter their affiliation.

I wish. But unlikely to happen in a timely manner, if at all.

It may take a while to start, but once it starts it should be fast. Play the tape, maybe a few other bits, and rest.

And Bragg kept his campaign promise.

He went after a repeat offender who thought he was above the law and nailed the bastard. That's crime fighting that you conservatives should celebrate.

Doesn't sound like an ominous campaign promise.

SNIP During the race, Bragg was asked repeatedly how he would handle the probe. His standard answer was to cite his work on Trump-related lawsuits while he was in the attorney general’s office, and his willingness to hold powerful figures accountable.

“I don’t know where this investigation will go. I don’t want to prejudge it. But, these types of investigations — white-collar investigations — I’ve been involved with for years, both doing them myself and also supervising them,” Bragg told The Associated Press at the time. SNIP

And I think I remember the two prosecutors quitting.

SNIP NEW YORK (AP) — When Alvin Bragg took office as Manhattan district attorney in 2022, he stunned the public and his own staff by pausing an investigation into former President Donald Trump that appeared to be hurtling toward an indictment.

Two top prosecutors were so upset with the decision, they quit. One called Bragg’s hesitation to bring a case against Trump “a grave failure of justice.”

Now, Bragg has cemented his place in history as the first prosecutor to win a criminal conviction of a former U.S. president. SNIP

I got it! He reminds me of Leona Helmsley. Except for law. "Only little people have to obey laws".

His post-conviction speech outside the courthouse was chockful of hatred and lies, utter disbelief that he could ever be held accountable for his actions.

He was driven for revenge; not a scintilla of remorse dismissing the weeks of work the jury did ON HIS BEHALF and on the behalf of the American system of justice.

He reminded me of Rumplestilskin who, when the girl correctly identified his name, had a Trumpian meltdown grabbed his foot and and tore himself in half.

Trumplestilskin - a legend in his own mind.

Yes, in a nation of laws, Bragg promised to do his job; prosecute violators of the laws of the state of New York. No man is above the law in the USA.

"The name Rumpelstilzchen in German (IPA: /ʀʊmpl̩ʃtiːlt͡sçn̩/) means literally "little rattle stilt", a stilt being a post or pole that provides support for a structure. A rumpelstilt or rumpelstilz was consequently the name of a type of goblin, also called a pophart or poppart, that makes noises by rattling posts and rapping on planks.

Bingo 1.

Rumpelstiltskin principle - The value and power of using personal names and titles is well established in psychology, management, teaching and trial law. It is often referred to as the "Rumpelstiltskin principle". It derives from a very ancient belief that to give or know the true name of a being is to have power over it."

Bingo 2.

Trumplestilskins new title: Felon. Convict. Criminal.

Timing has an important role regardless of outcome.

The dockets are so jam packed for bench time at all levels that it takes time for the wheels of justice to turn. That it took time does not prove anything but that it takes time to develop and process a major trial.

Is there any proof that the timing was intentionally scheduled to affect the outcome of the trial?

Yes, there is a concept of "Below the Law" too.

Can you elaborate on that, explaining how it's relevant to the conviction of Donald J Trump for his violation of the laws of the state of New York?

Yes, there is a concept of "Below the Law" too.

Don't engage in that without something to support it. So far you've paraded misunderstandings, some of which look deliberate on your part, to provoke, or have something negative to say. Dope went round the bend. Hope he gets better.

I don't have an emotional investment in Biden. I do have an emotional investment in the USA. The messaging on my side looks poor. The local Dems want to phone bank here to get the vote out. Last I did was walk neighborhoods with addresses of the Dems, encouraging them to vote.

So there's three things I can do: 1. Vote, which I will do. 2. Give money, which I have been doing. 3. Help the local party get out the vote.

So Dope, you say you don't give money. Don't blame ya - we all know he's a grifter. Don't know what you do Mike. You both can vote. Beyond that is some work. Your choice. The local Dems here are asleep, so that's in your favor.

"And Bragg kept his campaign promise."

I know you are a cultist, but most real Americans believe in rule of law and that people should pay for crimes they commit.

I know you think rule of law means when nutters and cultists at a rally chant "lock her up" and whatever other stuff Fox news feeds you, but in the real world rule of law means investigating a crime to develop evidence, using that evidence to convince a grand jury that a person should be indicted, presenting that evidence in a court of law where it is subject to counterarguments and special evidentiary rules developed over hundreds of years to convince a jury of peers that the person was guilty and subjecting all of the process to appeals to make sure the defendant maintains his rights.

It isn't just about Alvin Bragg keeping a campaign promise. That just shows ignorance of how the judicial system works.

Sorry that your cult leader turned out to be a criminal who likes to brag about raping women and regularly cheats other people. Perhaps you should pick better role models, one's that don't constantly make you look like an idiot.
