Breaking news: CDC "recommended on Wednesday that adults 65 and older and those with weakened immune systems receive another dose of the reformulated booster that debuted last fall. The endorsement followed a daylong discussion by the C.D.C.'s expert advisers. The Food and Drug Administration authorized the booster plan on Tuesday, and the C.D.C.'s recommendation was the final administrative step. Eligible Americans will be able to receive booster doses immediately." (https://www.nytimes.com/2023/04/19/health/covid-bo...)

DW and I got our bivalent shots last October (following 3 shots of the original Pfizer vax plus fairly severe Covid in June 2022). We will be traveling to Europe next month, and so, being in our 70s, we'll get yet another booster ASAP, unless our doc advises us otherwise (which I very much doubt).

Followup: DW and I got our second bivalent booster a couple of weeks ago in preparation for our upcoming trip to Europe. I got the Moderna version on top of previous Pfizer jabs, to mix and match. DW stuck with the Pfizer version. We both felt a bit tired and achy the next day with minor soreness at the injection site--enough to indicate that something was working but not enough to cause any issues.

We'll still mask on the flights and on public transport, but (in contrast to last year) we're looking forward to eating in indoor restaurants (unless they're really packed).
