Google Sheets with the =googlefinance formula is all you need for data/quotes you currently get from YF

Most of the time, not always.

BlackRock Enhanced Equity Dividend Trust (BDJ) comes back as Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Ltd.

Does not support NAV symbols at all. Ex: xETJx for the NAV of ETJ.

There is an app function "yahooF(ticker)" that can pull quotes from Yahoo.

Saturday I noticed in my Googlefinance sheet I needed to copy out the googlefinance command for the indexes, clear the cell, then paste the formula back in to get it to refresh, but that was it.

Yes, GF automatic refresh sometimes has glitches.
Most are supposed to update every 15 minutes, others every hour. The way to force it is as you said.
