No matter what you think of the “OMNI PRESENT” Whitney Tilson, today’s “Daily” includes a discussion of equal weighted funds , a past & current? investment style liked by Mungo. As Jim has mentioned, the advice provided by Inv. Gurus may be worth listening to even though there inv perf may not be what you desire.
As an aside, I had an account with Whitney in the early days, 2001? until he shut down the fund approx 10 yrs later. His outperf was outstanding for many yrs however leverage via the Short market wiped out almost all the outperf & ended up with a very small , 1/2% per yr, outperf of the S&P. Still way better than several other LLP’s that I had experience with.

Tangential note:

I was wondering if a super simple strategy of S&P 500 stocks can succeed--in general, and in particular in the last few years--if it studiously avoided the top 10 stocks by market cap, including the Mag 7.
Short answer: yes. Just make sure you get stocks with high ROE. High ROE is definitely not a guarantee of success for a stock pick, but on average it's very good, and if you're doing a shotgun approach all you need is the "on average" result.
