... public education.

https://joycevance.substack.com/p/educate-or-not
It’s no wonder that Project 2025 calls for putting an end to the Department of Education. Trump’s electoral success depended on so-called low-information voters, members of the electorate who couldn’t or didn’t distinguish between the tough talk and tough guy image the candidate portrayed and the reality of the policies that come with his win. That’s often true for MAGA candidates, who are inexplicably able to attract the voters who are harmed by the policies they subsequently pass, as with tax cuts for the extremely wealthy and the working-class voters who didn’t benefit from them, but made them possible.

The Washington Post had this story today about the hopes of low-income voters who went for Trump in 2024, like a single mom who said she sometimes has to choose between buying toilet paper and milk and told reporters, “He is more attuned to the needs of everyone instead of just the rich … I think he knows it’s the poor people that got him elected, so I think Trump is going to do more to help us.” So far, that’s not looking good.

"I think he knows it’s the poor people that got him elected, so I think Trump is going to do more to help us."

Truly staggering that any working class person would think that. It is so easy to find examples of Trump screwing over working class people, that it is blind and willful ignorance on their part to believe in Trump will fix it fairy tale.

Hate to say it, but the working class, or at least the retired-from-working-class people are going to need to feel some pain from cuts that Elon and Vivek are going to influence Trump and MAGA congress to enact.

I just watched this vid from More Perfect Union. Interviewed fair attendees in a deep Red
corner of SW Michigan. A small number of them get it, but the majority are pro Trump and
think he is going to fix everything, not loot and pillage everything. I totally get
people being fed up. But to me it's not an R vs D thing, it's an Elite vs Everyone-Else
thing. And the Elite have the masses eating out of their hands, they own the minds of the working class, for the most part. I don't see any way out of this, other than working class feeling some real pain. And I'm talking working class retirees. The actual younger people who are still working are going to find out too, when they wake up at 65 years old and see that there are no social programs like Medicare.

OH..MY..GOD. : (

It may be unfair to call such people stupid, but it is certainly true they are ignorant.

Sad.

Oh, Trump is going to "fix" things alright. In fact, the "fix is now in", and the result will be that Trump and his Broligarch billionaires, Cryptocronies, and sycophantic pals are going to benefit handsomely over the next 4 years (or at least 2, if there's a blue wave back splash in 2026). As for the rest of MAGA and non-MAGA, we are indeed all screwed.

Somebody once told me "Don't be ashamed of being ignorant. Ignorant just means you haven't been told yet." Well, these people have been told repeatedly. And they should be ashamed of themselves.

The problem is that they HAVE been told repeatedly, but by sources that are lying to them constantly. So, they THINK they aren't ignorant, when in reality they are ignorant of the actual truth!
