You can't be a Republican and a Trumper. Trumpism is way too far out of the Republican mainstream and real Republicans know that.

“This is an existential moment for the country,” a former head of the Republican National Committee, Michael Steele, told me. “Do you really want to live in a country where the president of the United States is going after his political enemies?”

Many Republicans who worked for Trump are aghast that millions of voters still support him when he’s been crystal clear about his plans to turn away from democracy if elected.


This episode we are living through is baffling. We have around 70 million hard core Trump voters and it isn't changing. Nothing changes. They're still solidly behind the guy and he is free to be as deranged as he wants to be. A conviction won't change things, his donors have already said that.
