Very informative article. I'm a fan of the Acquired podcast which did a deep dive into Novo Nordisk last year. The majority of owner of Novo Nordisk is a non-profit foundation, which has a mandate to maximize global health, which it does by running a for-profit company (Nova Nordisk). So the decision making process is a lot different than you might expect. The whole story is pretty wild.

In a separate episode they also did a long interview with Lotte Bjerre Knudsen, the head researcher who developed semiglutides. She worked on it for decades, with at best lukewarm support from her bosses.
