The DOJ is now talking about the SPLC investigation. Some of the stuff they're alleging are he-said, she-said: they're saying the SLPC paid the klan and other hate groups. The SLPC will claim they were merely paying informants. That charge could go either way, but this one

That indictment is something else. The SLPC has been FUNDING these broke hate groups just so they can write articles and claim the US is full of white supremacists.
And then of course the democrats go along in lockstep and then broadly target anyone they can smear with the label.

Now, I know you’re excited because the DOJ FINALLY got an indictment, but as the saying goes, it’s easy to get a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich. It’s all one sided.
The fact that the current DOJ usually can’t even get an indictment, shows their incompetence.
Let’s see what happens when the SPLC gets to the discovery phase and the jury gets to hear from BOTH sides.
Odds are this “case” will fall flat on its face, if it doesn’t get thrown out before the trial.

I see some of the lib white blood cells are reacting to this news. Good.
Some things were easily predicted, like how they're trying to go the "informants" route. Problem is the SPLC isn't a law enforcement agency and they don't have the role in society to fund crime to stop crime like actual law enforcement agencies can.

Despite the fact that Trump and his administration have lied approximately 50,000 times (give or take 42), you believe everything they say. I’ve seen you twist yourself into a shape defending these lies that would make a pretzel look straight.
Now, in America, you have the right to believe lies. There’s no law against believing lies. So you believe the SPLC committed wire fraud despite the fact that the Trump administration is blatantly dishonest.
I, on the other hand, don’t believe the SPLC committed wire fraud. Why? Because the Trump administration has lied to me approximately 50,000 times (give or take 42).
Now here’s the crux of the biscuit (ok, I listened to too much Frank in my youth): Neither of us knows the correct answer to “has the SPLC committed wire fraud?” At least not yet.

Basically, they appear to be premised on the SPLC's statements that they were working to dismantle hate groups, and argue that those statements were deceptive because the SPLC ended up paying informants for information and documents. I think that's going to be a heavy lift, once SPLC mounts a defense. They should be able to credibly argue that paying informants can be (and
were) understood to be part of their efforts to dismantle the hate groups, such that they believed their statements were correct and accurate.
The other charges, though, are more difficult. They relate to making false statements to banks and money laundering. DOJ is claiming that they gave false information to the banks about whose money it really was, including false affidavits relating to the ownership and/or operation of the business entities. I think that's going to be far more problematic for SPLC. They have a good faith argument for why they weren't deceiving donors when they said the funds would be used for dismantling hate groups, but I
don't see a readily apparent good faith argument that they weren't deceiving

However: the SLPC used to a be an org that did good work. But as they kept winning in court, and kept whacking white supremacists...they started to become a victim of their own success. Donations dwindled.

It's almost surreal how the media and Democrats are whitewashing the allegations against the SPLC, casting them as the good guys who just happened to pay informants. Here's a quick sample of what's actually in the indictment:
� "active promotion of racist groups"
� "made racist postings under the supervision of the SPLC"
� "coordinate transportation to the event for several attendees"
� "directly paying leaders" (because nothing says "informant" like paying the guy in charge)
� "high-level SPLC employee who had knowledge the documents had been stolen"
� "donated funds would be used in the commission of state and federal crimes"
� "SPLC opened bank accounts connected to a series of fictitious entities"
All of that will have to be proven in court, but these are nonetheless extremely serious allegations. The indictment describes a sprawling scheme involving money laundering through fictitious front companies, multi-million dollar fraud against donors, conspiracy, the commissioning of burglary and theft, as well as tax and 501(c)(3) violations tied to funding the activities which the SPLC publicly claims to oppose.
The SLPC paid for the "Unite the Right" riot, bussed the rioters there, created the chaos, then got to fundraise off the hate rally they created.

Trump said we would be getting checks from the DOGE savings. The famous “DOGE checks” have not arrived, and never will.
Trump said we would be getting checks from the tariffs he imposed, in fact the revenues might be so big it could replace the income tax. The “tariff checks” have not arrived and never will.
Trump said he would start lowering prices “on Day One”. That did not happen.
Trump promised to replace the Affordable Care Act with “something better.” We still don’t have “the concept of a plan”, much less a plan, much less something that could pass in legislation.
Trump said he would eliminate the Federal Debt. As if.
Trump promised to “bring manufacturing back”, instead it continues to slip away, at a pace about equal to that of the past 50 years.
He promised not to cut Medicare or Medicaid, yet his budgets show cuts to both.
He promised “no new wars”, yet we are spending over $2,000,000,000 a day on the useless war we started with Iran and are not winning.
And American drivers are spending 30% more for gasoline, truckers 45% more for diesel for the privilege of watching this moron destroy the credibility of the United States.
To quote a line not heard nearly enough from “A Few Good Men” “These are facts, and they are not in dispute.”
