I have always said that the game changes for Electric Vehicles when solid state batteries come online. EVs won't be perfect but will be a damn sight better than what's out there. It looks like solid state batteries will be in demo form in 2 years:

Most auto manufacturers plan to launch their electric vehicles (EVs) with solid-state batteries by 2030.

However, Stellantis has announced that it will introduce a demonstration fleet of brand-new Dodge Charger Daytona EVs featuring solid-state batteries by 2026.

Stellantis is incorporating Factorial’s solid-state batteries into a demonstration fleet of Dodge Charger Daytona vehicles.

The vehicles will utilize solid-state battery technology with over 390Wh/kg energy density.

That level of energy density is ~1.5-2x what's on the road now but the best part is that solid-state batteries don't swell and they don't carry the fire risk that the current cells have. They should offer better range, faster charges and be lighter.

All good news.
