Back in my Fool days, one of the posters I enjoyed was "DesertDave". He liked to say, wrt the "supply side economics" model of all the money being funneled to the "JCs", "I never got a job from a poor person". Dave had an army surplus store. I would ask him if he would have a job running his store, if no-one had any money to patronize his store.
