$20 billion was removed from the CR for the IRS. So who won? Top 10%? Top 1%? Well, I;m confident the lower 90% didn't win.

I can't wait to find out what crucial program the new administration decides to cut to fund mass deportation.

It was Club 401k Liberals who were hell bent on going after $600 payments for side hustles.
It's Club 401K Liberals who wants SALT for upper incoming white people.
It's Club 401K Liberals who wants $7500 so upper incoming white people may buy a new car.
It's Club 401K Liberals who love foreign aid, where America's middle class sends their tax money to top 1% corrupt people in foreign countries.
America's richest areas are Liberal.
Who lost?
Club 401K's penchant to want to use the IRS to attack people at the lower end, OR to get a few bucks from people who are richer than the average 401K'er who thinks he's hot shit when in fact, his HR department could end that quickly.
Oh - PS: It's Club 401K who wants tons of immigrants who will compete for low wage jobs and clog up middle class schools and hospitals - while the same white Club 401K'ers want limits on high-tech immigrants.
REGRESSIVE? THY NAME IS CLUB 401K LIBERALS. *giggle* they hate being called out.

Remind me, what did Biden cut to fund the Inflation Reduction Act? Or Rural Broadband? Or subsidies for EV's, and so on.
I don't think federal spending works the way you think it does. It is more like I will hold my nose and support your wasteful spending ideas and you support mine, then we both can proclaim what great statesmen we are to our constituencies, re-election assured.

He'll just add it onto the national debt like he did last time...
Trump added $8 trillion in new debt during his 1st term. That amounts to $23,500 in new federal debt for every person in the country. (Including Babies!)
One of Trump’s lesser known but profoundly damaging legacies will be the explosive rise in the national debt that occurred on his watch.
The financial burden that he’s inflicted on our economy and government will wreak havoc for decades, saddling our kids and grandkids with massive interest payments and debt.
Almost unbelievably he also simultaneously lost millions of American jobs. Sad!
"The amount he's added to the national debt is indecent." ~Mike Pompeo (Life long Republican.)

The big problem is that a significant portion of Congress will not raise taxes. There is no other way, unless you want to take big bites out of Medicare and SS. Eliminating the CPB, and other similar proposals, don't even amount to rounding errors. And for the "bloated military" people (some on the extreme left), you could close the Pentagon entirely, disband all branches, and it still wouldn't be enough to close the budget deficit.
Maybe there was a time when eliminating "pork" would have made a dent, but not anymore. Unless you consider Medicare "pork".
We either raise taxes, or we will pay a huge price later when the economy crashes. Plus the huge price we're paying in interest on the debt.
I know it's not popular, but it is necessary. It won't happen in the next four years, and probably not when a Dem wins again in 2028 (likely...I think the convict contributed to Biden's win in 2020 because he was just sooooo horrible, even Biden looked good). It's one of the few campaign promises that everyone likes, and can often be enacted. Even if the results are uniformly disastrous.

We need a culture change in Washington despite a meager impact on the deficit. Who wants to waste money. It is just common sense.
We can't let a mentality set in that because we can't solve the whole problem in one stroke of legislative genius, so why solve any of it. Common sense, Respect for taxpayers, that is reason enough.

It's a sacred cow now - that's beef. :) Lotsa folks are tied into using Medicare as a primary, and some other health care as secondary. Seems to be the way Medicare Advantage works. My own healthcare, FEPBlue uses medicare as primary and it is secondary. I don't know anyone on Medigap. Does anyone?
I discovered my wife's Ambetter Gold healthcare was ACA and she gets a credit, but a lot of Doctors won't take Ambetter. The nearest gastroenterologist is 2 hours away on Ambetter, so I downgraded to a basic PPO on FEPBlue and added her. Now she has access to all the Docs that take Blue Cross Blue Shield and some 6 gastroenterologists close by. The big minus is my Out Of Pocket Max doubles. :(
Touch medicare and millions will feel pain. One of the odder things is that in another three years she becomes eligible for my social security. At a reduced rate until the Fairness in Social Security Act is signed, then she gets it in full if I pass.
Figuring out health care in the USA is complicated.

one poorguy is correct - raising taxes IS part of the equation.
The rest is my opinion.
Culture Decay has made more of America a Housing Project - just the way White Liberals wanted. Hence, be it the Feds, state, local, the expenses are too high.
Furthermore the war guarantees and desire to play World Cop (Conservatives do it if Israel tells them, Liberals want to do it if Europe tells them) again. is way too huge an expense.
Trouble is - everyone wants a "perfect" solution that ticks all their boxes when in fact, *somewhat fair* shared punishment is needed.
Either levy a flat dollar amount on every legal American resident as a price of admission to live in America, and said money is paid with annual taxes. This means that Mr Trump's lawyers can weasel out of it, but sadly, the janitor will pay too.
AND OR - do a national sales tax. Of course *smirk* it's the rich people doing all the consumption. Middle class and poor don't blow money on useless status symbols and fashion right? So decide XYZ% national sales tax-- plain and simple. Again - anyone who buys anything - pays it.
I know I know "tax the rich" - good luck with that. How's it working so far.
