If Iran attacks America, does that mean NATO is null and void if the Europeans don't defend America?

If we invoked article 5 and they blew us off, that would be bad.

Would it end NATO? No.

iirc, the only time Article 5 has been invoked, was when the US was attacked, on 9/11. No Article 5 when the Falklands were invaded. No Article 5 during the Cod Wars.

By the way, if you happen to have the Flightradar24 app and you filter for military aircraft…

…you’ll see a British tanker aircraft flying racetracks near Cyprus. And he has a friend with him in the form of a Typhoon fighter.

Hardly, says AI:

The Mandate of Article 1

This is the "good faith" clause of the treaty. It explicitly requires members to:

"...refrain in their international relations from the threat or use of force in any manner inconsistent with the purposes of the United Nations."

If a member state violates Article 1 by launching an unprovoked strike, they have breached the treaty itself. It is logically and legally difficult to demand the benefits of a treaty (Article 5) while you are actively violating its core premise (Article 1).

I heard a quick blurb --- it seems the Europeans are dipping their toe in :)

And how lovely - Sheeple's France is NOT ONLY pursuing some 'changes' to pensions and work week (like I promise Sheeple long ago)...not only are they increasing defense spending, but now they may pursue more nuclear arsenal.

I wonder if Sheeple will oppose that like un the 80's with Reagan :)

Either way---let's hope France gets the money from that by raising pension ages and cutting benefits.

France's national identity and way of life ---eventually will change.

It's a side project of mine.

Showing fruit.
