Did I mention before, that the US bought the Virgin Islands from Denmark, in 1917? Of course, a century ago, "powers" didn't care about what the people who lived there wanted.
But I don't see the Pirate King asking for permits to build more bases, or offering a vote of Danes and Greenlanders, on the question, or offering to purchase Greenland. All I hear him saying is "surrender, or I will invade".
