Kelly did not form an opinion, he heard Trump speak those actual words to him and provided a statement to the media to confirm that Trump actually made the vile comments that CNN had reported.


Hearsay: "unverified, unofficial information gained or acquired from another and not part of one's direct knowledge."

Kelly had direct knowledge. He heard Trump speak the words and wanted to go on record to confirm that Trump is a POS who made disparaging comments about soldiers killed in action and doesn't belong anywhere near the White House or as Commander in Chief ever again.
