Recently the right has tried a new rhetorical trick: claiming that even using the word “fascist” is itself a call to violence. In their telling, to call someone a fascist is to paint a target on them. They insist that the label is so dangerous that it must not be uttered at all. And by shaming or intimidating people into silence, they hope to inoculate themselves against the accusation—even when their own words and actions invite the comparison

You have an entire cadre of left wing nutjobs that base their identities around "Punch a fash".

The very essence of hard core progressivism is violence and intimidation of the other side.

Speech is violence. Up is down. Violence is free speech.

First time I’ve heard that.

No doubt real, but “the entire cadre of leftwing nutjobs” for whom this is a saying can probably fit into a high school football stadium
