"Berkshire Hathaway said Warren Buffett raised the pay of his designated successor Greg Abel to $20 million last year, as the conglomerate posted a record operating profit.
The company also urged the rejection of six shareholder proposals, including that Berkshire disclose more about its plans to reduce greenhouse gases and improve diversity, monitor the safety of its BNSF railroad unit more closely, and discuss how much its operations depend on Chinese government activities."

Mr Buffett’s salary remained at $100k p.a. despite steep increases in cost of living in recent years. $885 Billion of market wealth creation to date. You degenerates don’t deserve this man!

And of course he reimbursed the company $50k of that for personal use of the telephone, stamps, and secretary's grabbing him lunch.
Charlie got his entire $100k salary despite missing a month. I wouldn't be surprised if that salary wasn't an every-two-weeks standard set-up.
It will be interesting to see if Greg sends a message upon ascending to CEO by adopting the $100k salary. He will certainly be able to afford it.

for the size and complexity of being the Berkshire CEO I believe he needs to be paid. $20m -$30m is chump change for the challenges of the job.
He gets only cash.

Opinions may differ on that.
In my view nobody is worth that much for their day job efforts.
But I agree that that is not an uncommon amount in the US in this era, unfortunately.
Would a person hired to do the job be doing a better job at $30m than they would for $20m or $10m? No, of course not.
Given that the country has hundreds of millions of people, I think one could generally find someone else just as competent to do it for less.
You wouldn't know for sure in advance if they would do really well, but that's also true of whoever is the first pick.
Median FTSE 100 salary is around 3.9 million pounds, not counting pensions.

As an example to support your opinion:
"Boeing actually raised Calhoun’s total compensation in 2022, to $22.5 million, despite problems with the 777 program and quality control issues with the 787 that forced regulators to halt the company’s deliveries."

Then again your average FTSE company isn't a patch on Berkshire in terms of creating shareholder value. $20m is fine imo.

Just remember that Warren has a real interest in those succeeding him already having more money than their families could ever use. He does not want the next group of leaders to make decisions for Berkshire that are influenced by their own personal finances in any way, even subconsciously. Money should not be the motivating factor.
I don't have a problem with Greg and Ajit getting paid $20 million each today or in the future. But I would not be surprised to see them end those large salaries when Warren is no longer with us.
