You don’t start firing the military’s top lawyers unless you’re getting ready to ask the military to do something illegal.

I wrote one of my old bosses, a high trust one in a sea of many that I generally did not regard highly, that we were closer to another Kent State (her alma mater, about a decade after the shootings) than any time I could have imagined in the last 50 years.
