"So equipped, a man could take out an enemy squad, drop a hostage-taker or put 17 holes in a 4-inch circle at 25 yards. A man could also sweep a crowd of targets, press the trigger whenever the red dot passed over one, and in less than 10 seconds deliver 17 fatalities. For RN Alex Pretti, it suggests a whole galaxy of questions that must be answered before anyone knows anything.”
Here is where Stephen Hunter (and the RWNJs) lose their shit.
HUNTER DECLARED ALEX PRETTI INNOCENT.
If the idea was to KILL, then Alex would have been SHOOTING FROM OUTSIDE THE AREA WHERE ICE WAS LOCATED.
Why? The gun sight--specifically identified/mentioned by Hunter--allowed individuals to be rapidly identified AND targeted. Shooting EACH SPECIFIC TARGET would mean being able to HIT ICE/CBP AND NOT SHOOT OTHER NON-DESIRED POTENTIAL TARGETS.
THIS COULD NOT BE DONE IF HE WAS INSIDE THE ICE/CBP CIRCLE.
Thus, Hunter's identification of the gun sight--INCLUDING ITS STATED CAPABILITIES AND USES--PROVES BEYOND A SHADOW OF A DOUBT that Alex Pretti was NOT intending to shoot/kill anyone. Can't rationally argue ATTACK by Pretti because there was NO drawing of the weapon or other preparation to use it. RATIONAL attack on ICE/CBP would be to do so from OUTSIDE, not INSIDE, the ICE/CBP circle. Alex was rational (ICU nurse's JOB--RN Alex Pretti--stated by Hunter in top paragraph), so Hunter has unwittingly cleared Alex of any intent to attack ICE using Alex's carried weapon.
Alex Pretti has been cleared by Stephen Hunter's own analysis of any attack on ICE/CBP. Thus, the murder/execution of Alex Pretti can proceed at both the state and federal levels.
