I encounter this site fairly often these days. I'd appreciate a succinct explanation/description of what Substack is, what it enables, etc.

Not an expert.

From what I gather, it lets you become a content producer (writer, podcaster, etc) without having to get an actual publisher. Which probably didn't help you much?

I know YouTubers will post content on YouTube, but then have extended version on a subscription service called Nebula. Perhaps bloggers/vloggers are doing the same thing with Substack? Not sure.

Shamefacedly.....no! I've seen mention of it a lot lately, and saw notice elsewhere of a piece I'm curious to read, and just the first paragraph or so was available. Why it didn't occur to me to search Substack itself for information, I don't know.
