US economy expanded at a surprising 3.8% pace in significant upgrade of second quarter growth
WASHINGTON (AP) — An uptick in consumer spending helped the U.S. economy expand at a surprising 3.8% from April through June, the government reported in a dramatic upgrade of its previous estimate of second-quarter growth.https://finance.yahoo.com/news/us-economy-expanded...Just as Lord Trump said at the UN, words to the effect "I'm brilliant and perfect, you guys zuk". I'm sure the Commerce Dept didn't cook the numbers to give Lord Trump what he wants. Nosireee. He is uniquely gifted, and needs to be President for life.

Jobless claims tumble to 218,000, well below estimate despite fears of labor market weakness
Jobless claims totaled a seasonally adjusted 218,000, down 14,000 from the prior week’s upwardly revised figure and significantly less than the consensus estimate for 235,000.https://www.cnbc.com/2025/09/25/jobless-claims-tum...Even more exceptionalism!
Personal consumption expenditures, which drive about two-thirds of the $30 trillion U.S. economy, increased 2.5%, well above the 1.6% figure in the second estimate and better than the 0.6% rate in the first quarter.
In yet another sign of strength, spending on long-lasting items such as airplanes, appliances and computers increased 2.9% in August, compared with the forecast for a decline of 0.4% and better than the July figure, which showed a drop of 2.7%.See? Ever since that "American hating Commie" that published that "Jobs" number was tossed, everything is perfect and wonderful.

An uptick in consumer spending helped the U.S. economy expand at a surprising 3.8% from April through June, the government reported in a dramatic upgrade of its previous estimate of second-quarter growth.Yes the wealthy are doing great! Trumps Plutocracy In Action!
"The top 10% of U.S. households now account for nearly half of all consumer spending, a record high since data collection on this metric began in 1989."
"The figures help to explain how the economy has remained afloat and avoided recession amid a substantial decline in hiring, rising debt delinquencies and stubborn inflation
that is straining many households."
"The economy’s prospects are tethered to the fortunes and spending of the well-to-do, If they turn more cautious in their spending, for whatever reason, the economy will suffer a recession."
Hey MAGA, keep those tax cuts for wealthy coming...Trickle down is gonna hit BIG any day now! (Maybe in 2 weeks?!)

From the link:
Consumer spending rose at a 2.5% pace, up from 0.6% in the first quarter and well above the 1.6% the government previously estimated. Spending on services advanced at a 2.6% annual pace, more than double the government's previous estimate of 1.2%.
Is that because consumers are buying more or because what consumers are buying is costing more?

I checked the markets today too. Dow, S&P, NASDAQ, Russell, NYSE are all down, but there is still more time today. Usually on such rosy news Mr. Market lights the fireworks. It looks like the market may have its own data, and it doesn't match what the Commerce Dept. is selling.
