Man in pickup truck sporting two large American flags rams the doors of a Mormon church in Michigan, jumps out in camo clothes, and begins shooting parishioners.
Pictures and story at this link:
https://apnews.com/article/mormon-church-shooting-...So how long is it going to take certain people to realize their rhetoric is corrosive, and that gun culture might be a bit overdone?
I’m guessing somewhere between “never” and “infinity”, but that’s just me.

"Culture" has nothing to do with it.
Tbat's what Sheeple tells me.
PS: Yes, Constitutional Culture is overdone and a good dictatorship should disarm its citizens. You people cannot be trusted with Rights.

The articles I have been reading on metro Detroit media did not show the pic of the truck, or mention the flags or camo. The license plate on the truck indicates the owner is an Iraq war vet. The article I read did note there were three IEDs inside the truck. The guy is from Burton, a 'burb of Flint. Police used robots to search the guy's house, in case there were more bombs inside.

Follow the link in my original post for a look at the picture. Pretty easy to figure out what’s going on.
Oh, and in other news, in North Carolina a gunman and opened fire at a waterfront restaurant, killing three people.
*In Texas, a shooting at a casino killed two.
*In Columbia, Missouri a college student was shot and killed. She was, in the vernacular, an innocent bystander to an argument between others.
*Two others are dead in a shooting in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania. The motive is unclear at this time.
*Two men were shot in separate incidents in Durham, North Carolina this morning; one was walking his dog in his neighborhood.
*Another man is dead, three are wounded in a shooting on Bourbon Street in New Orleans today.
Those are all in the last 24 hours.

It’s.The.Guns. The local Detroit news just quoted Lord Trump's statement:
I have been briefed on the horrendous shooting that took place at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in Grand Blanc, Michigan. The FBI was immediately on scene, and will be leading the Federal Investigation, and providing full support to State and Local Officials. The suspect is dead, but there is still a lot to learn. This appears to be yet another targeted attack on Christians in the United States of America. The Trump Administration will keep the Public posted, as we always do. In the meantime, PRAY for the victims, and their families. THIS EPIDEMIC OF VIOLENCE IN OUR COUNTRY MUST END, IMMEDIATELY!https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/115...Lord Trump never misses a chance to advance his narrative of white, Christian, victim-hood. Some LDS members would be pleased to be acknowledged as Christians, as too many Christians don't think Mormons are "one of us". I remember Mitt Romney going on TV, when he was running for POTUS, confronting fundy Christian hate for Mormons.

I agree -- something must be. done on gun - i've long supported certain controls.
What amazes me is nobody is curious why so many people want to pull the triggers.
So, keep arguing guns i guess.

Quick question:
Are you intentionally misstating (i.e. being dishonest) about what most of your political opponents believe about guns or are you just too stupid to be able actually understand it?
I don't really see any other option.

Wait, so now you think a dictator should disarm its citizens and people cannot be trusted with rights?
It is hilarious watching you argue with yourself. Or that for some reason you feel the need to mischaracterize your opponent's views, maybe to make yourself feel better?

You don't understand human nature? Why some people will want to lash out when they are angry? You don't understand mental illness? You don't understand that there is a huge emotional burden on those left behind in a man-eat man world of unrestrained capitalism?
There are lots of reasons people get driven to the brink enough to do harmful things to other people. We should all want to help these people get mental help, unfortunately there are too many assholes like you who support politicians who consistently vote against providing mental health help to those pushed to become harmful.

I'm glad the root causes are not discussed for most problems.

IOn disarming.
Yes, you Liberals who PRETEND to love "democracy"....should know that dictators indeed disarm their people.
I'm not thrilled about it - but *any* infringement on your Bill of Rights is to be suported so if it starts with guns - so be it.
I dont like you having rights. I dont think Trump will take away your gun rights --- YOU will do that when Liberals are back in power. But again, any dismantling of your Bill of Rights - i'm in!
Guns, speech, voting, whatever.
And guesw what Umm...bit by bit...i'm prevailing.

What amazes me is Republicans consistently avoid talking about the real issue- easy access to guns, including military grade weaponry…… by deflecting the issue, focusing on “mental health”.
Fine- that’s a part of the problem; I can go along with that.
And then they cut funding for mental health.
Republicans are not in the least bit serious about governing.

What makes you think that Wilton? That's never been so. A 5 second google with AI will counter that.
I can make my own educated wild ass guess based on looking at it long ago. We've had violence dropping since 1990, and we postulate that taking the lead out of gas and paint, etc., may have helped the decline. There's lots of studies correlating violent rhetoric to increase in violence; couple that with easy access to guns and a culture that caters to guns and gun carry and, Voila!, we have ourselves a shooter.
The suicides are making a splash statement before they go. The right has been spewing speech that creates an atmosphere favoring violence for some time and as is typical, they blame the left, or what they think the left is. But the right has the left beat on violence to people.

Oh Lord, the ignorance is astonishing.
Freedom of speech does not cede the right to slander people, or to print the blueprints for the construction of a nuclear weapon, nor to, as the famous trope goes, yell “fire” in a crowded auditorium. The First Amendment has been “infringed”.
Freedom of religion does not mean your religion can have polygamy, nor abuse your wife, nor own slaves - so that part of the first amendment has also been “infringed.”
The Secon d Amendment, by the way, contains the words “A well; regulated militia”, words which Justice Scalia made disappear, in contravention to all other words in the Constitution. I suspect that will not stand forever.
The Fourth Amendment calls for warrants to be issued “on probable cause”, which we see ICE violating daily, so I’d have to say that one has been “infringed” as well. And that right to be secure against “unreasonable searches and seizures” has been bent beyond recognition; you go through a full body search every time you enter an airport. Not to mention a concert hall or even many schools these days. “Pro-active searches”, that’s what the Founding Fathers had in mind, I’m sure.
The Fifth Amendments calls for no person to be tried twice for the same offense, except now we separate them into Federal an State offenses and you can, indeed, find yourself in court over the same thing. Pretty big infringement, if you ask me.
The Sixth guarantees “a speedy trial”, which is a joke, obviously. “Infringed” much? I’ll say.
Well, I could go on, but I hope the pint is clear by now. The Constitution has been flexible, at least to a limited degree, in so many ways except for the morons who claim the Second Amendment is not, cannot, in any way, be reconciled with anything in our modern society - with weapons, I point out, that the writers of the Constitution could never have imagined.
I think most people have gotten the point by now. Not you, of course, but I’d guess everyone else.
“Infringed”. Ho ho ho, you are too funny.

The first also prohibits Congress enacting any law with regard to "establishment of religion". The establishment clause was thoroughly shredded in the 1950s.
4 U.S.C. § 4 lists the full text of the Pledge of Allegiance, including the "God" clause.
36 U.S.C § 119 requires the POTUS to declare a "national day of prayer" each year.
36 U.S.C. § 302 declares "In God We Trust" the national motto.
These are federal laws, passed by Congress, artifacts of the Communist hysteria of the cold war. I went to a Township Council meeting a few years ago. The meeting started with praying to the flag, just like when I was in third grade.
One would think "freedom of religion" would include NOT being proselytized by your boss. Nope. Lord Trump's regime issued another edict explicitly saying you don't have the "freedom" to be left alone, because, apparently, that would infringe your boss' "right" to ram his religion down your throat.
