I believe Buffett trimmed Apple due to valuation and diversification concerns based on comments he has since made about the sale, while at the same time conceding he "sold it too soon."
He recently said he was still happy with the stock after the CEO succession. However, Buffett added, "I was not happy to have it be as large as almost everything else combined."
In the same interview, Buffett stated that while he would be open to buying Apple shares again if the price dropped significantly, he would not buy more in the current market environment.
