So, if I understand correctly, we’re supposed to believe that this administration which (mind you, this only a small partial list):

- took credit for saving money on contracts that had not yet been awarded

- claimed savings on instances where a single pot of money is listed multiple times, tripling or quadrupling the amount of savings claimed

- fired nuclear scientists, bomb engineers, and safety experts before realizing they were essential workers and tried to rehire them. But they didn’t know how to contact them after they fired them

- cut IRS workers that will result in billions in lost revenue

- fired FDIC employees to save costs. Except all the costs are paid for by banks

- didn’t understand the difference between $8 million and $8 billion

- is trying to break the Social Security system by forcing 80,000 a week to file in person AFTER they closed hundreds of offices

- listed savings on a $655 million dollar contract. Three times.

- fired over 17 inspectors general who were trained to eliminate inefficiency in the name of being more efficient

And we’re supposed to believe that this administration is capable of sending hundreds of alleged criminal immigrants to corrupt Venezuelan prisons without any due process and made no mistakes (like maybe including a few U.S. citizens or innocent people) after invoking powers under the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 (which can only be invoked in Congress declares war).

Did I miss that we declared war on Canada?

My bad. Venezuelan alleged criminals sent to El Salvador prisons.

Sigh. Fact check yourself, Alpha.

Even in the mid 2000s before these cuts....

The IRS in *some* instances missed out on quite a bit of money.

The "soak the rich" and "tax the 1%" and "you didn't build that business" talk go to some ---and, well, they got your butts for numbers you wouldn't believe.

It's El Salvador. This is a serious breach. Due process didn't exist in America until the Constitution, it was a concept, om paper, under the Age of of Enlightenment. There were a lot of firsts in the Constitution - due process was one of them - and they sprang from discussions with Europeans and Americans. John Locke cowrote the Constitution for the Carolinas, and we know how influential he was. Now these firsts may be tossed aside by zealots.

My pro Trump neighbor thinks the Geneva Convention can be ignored because its European and he really doesn't know what it is. I ask myself - how can you not know what the Geneva convention is, but he proudly and loudly doesn't. And due process can be ignored for illegal immigrants. All of this frivolous stuff that keeps America from just expelling immigrants is European and, like the UN, we can ignore it because it isn't American.

BTW - around 27 of the 131 deported to El Slavador were designated Tren de Aragua and 101 were normal detainees, so we are disappearing people. We need to get those 101 back on a flight to America and give them due process.

All? Do the banks pay for the salaries and benefits, and pensions and ofice space for the all of the employees in the FDIC?

Good for what they did do or better said as for what were allowed to do. They sure left a lot on the table for Trump to discover.

All? Do the banks pay for the salaries and benefits, and pensions and ofice space for the all of the employees in the FDIC?

From the FDIC site:

While the DIF is backed by the full faith and credit of the United States government, it has two sources of funds: assessments (insurance premiums) on FDIC-insured institutions and interest earned on funds invested in U.S. government obligations. Revenue from assessments and interest on investments add to the DIF balance (or fund net worth), while losses (primarily from bank failures) and operating expenses reduce the balance.

https://www.fdic.gov/resources/deposit-insurance/d...

The FDIC does not receive any money from taxpayers.

They sure left a lot on the table for Trump to discover.

DOGE has counted some savings as many three times, counted funds never spent as savings, confused millions with billions, and refuses to give a clear and transparent understanding of what they claim as savings.

Furthermore, they’re complete lazy morons without a whit of understanding about the damage they’re doing. Cutting the IRS which will actually add trillions to our national debt. Firing nuclear scientists who are responsible for keeping nuclear weapons safe (and I happen to think the keeping nuclear weapons safe is a really good fucking idea) and then not being able to contact the scientists after they realized the idiotic mistake they made. Gutting the Social Security Administration which will impact millions of elderly Americans when they have to contact the SSA in person and realize that DOGE also greatly reduced SSA offices. Lying about giving Social Security to people over 150 years old because these morons were too lazy to look up what a COBOL code means.

The damage these idiots are causing will is doing irreparable damage to our country. Instead of working with experts who know the systems and taking the time to understand them, they just cut anything and everything they please.

Except, of course, they haven’t touched a penny of the billions our government pays to Elon Musk. Every year.

Funny, that.
