Seems complicated, and expensive. Just looking at UTG, it has Total Expense Ratio of 2.09%.
Aren't there easier ways to get income?
That's what I was thinking, too. But I didn't really have anything constructive to add.
Our current stock portfolio is generating about that much income (dividends). I wish it was less because of ACA subsidies. It wasn't my goal to have lots of dividends, it just happened.
My personal thinking is that once we don't need the ACA anymore, I'll start selling-off a lot of stock. Reduce dividend, increase cap gains (which aren't taxed if ordinary income is below a specified level). Move it all into indexes over time and be done. If we need cash, sell some. Eventually SS will kick in (though 1poorlady has no confidence about that...she thinks the Reps are going to gut it before we can collect in about 7 years (when I'm 70).
