I'm fully vaccinated, with the latest shot over 6 weeks ago. The only conceivable place I could have gotten it was at the Dr.'s office last Thursday. I was wearing a mask, as usual, but also, as usual, no one else was, including the Dr. and the gal who did my renal ultrasound. I only removed my mask for about 10 minutes in the Dr.'s office, and wasn't that close to him anyway. But although I was masked during the ultrasound, the gal was at times pretty close to my face.
I self-tested positive - very clearly positive - twice yesterday with two different brands of COVID tests (the free ones from Uncle Sam). By than, I was taking Tylenol and a cough suppressant. My temp was still under 99 and pulse ox was high. My first symptoms started 2 days after the Dr. visit, but it was just a mild sore throat. I thought nothing of it. The next day, it was a little worse, and then I began feeling feverish. I wasn't even entertaining the possibility of COVID, since I thought given my precautions, it was much more likely to be the Flu or just a common cold.
So, after the positive test results I did a telehealth with my PCP in the afternoon. He prescribed Paxlovid (effective within 5 days of symptom onset - the earlier the better), which I've been taking. So far not much improvement, though it causes a weird taste in the mouth, and for me anyway, diarrhea. I wish I had tested earlier before the virus got as well entrenched as it seems to have.
Ugh.

If symptoms started in only two days, that may not be where you contracted it. As I recall, it takes about a week to show symptoms.
I've noticed that when I get sick, it's about a week after flying somewhere (yeah, wear a mask...no one else does). So that's consistent.
Not every time I fly, but when I do get sick, it's almost always after flying somewhere.

If symptoms started in only two days, that may not be where you contracted it. As I recall, it takes about a week to show symptoms. What I've read say symptoms of a COVID infection start from 2 to 10 days after exposure, 5.6 days on average.
But symptoms in only two days is apparently rare. And I did visit a CVS three days prior - while masked - to get both a flu shot and my 2nd Shingrix shot. I wasn't in close facial contact with anyone during the 30 minute visit. High ceilings and sparse attendance should have helped as well.
From
https://www.webmd.com/covid/coronavirus-incubation...On average, symptoms showed up in the newly infected person about 5.6 days after contact. Rarely, symptoms appeared as soon as 2 days after exposure. Most people with symptoms had them by day 12. And most of the other ill people were sick by day 14. In rare cases, symptoms can show up after 14 days. Researchers think this happens with about 1 out of every 100 people.

I caught it within a couple of days of my wife's relatives showing up, so they brought it. My voice turned staccato ratchety. :) I have 8 Covid shots, but no RSV. I'd like RSV and Monkeypox.
