Well, it looks like Talarico bested Crockett 53% to 46% in the TX democratic primary for U.S. Senate. I'm glad he did. I love Crockett, but I think she's just too polarizing to be elected state-wide, not to mention too black and too female, at least for Texas at this time. Fortunately, Crockett will still remain in the House where she can continue to be a thorn in republicans' sides.
And with the GOP seat now set for a runoff between Cornyn and Paxton, I think we have a decent chance to take a Texas seat in the Senate.

Since TX has an open primary, I wonder if a lot of Democrats will be voting for Paxton in the run-off between him and Cornyn.

You're saying Jasmine Crockett is "too black and too female" to win a DEMOCRAT primary election?
Yes, Dems are truly racists, we all knew that already, but thanks for the blatant admission.

I hope so. Paxton is toxic and Talarico has a much better chance against him than against Cornyn. But, if Paxton wins the runoff, Trump will surely endorse him, and that might be enough to gin up republican turnout. Then again, Trump isn't the "king maker" he once was since he's now pretty toxic himself!

Thank God.
Yes, candidate selection matters.
Attitude matters.
And now, there's a chance to win. Not a shoo in but a chance.
I wonder if Democrats --- prefer that?
Sadly the OP had to do the paternalistic racism and sexism thing. take it up with the DEMOCRATS who didn't pick her--- it was a primary.
Then stop being the great white father who supposedly protects the black people and women who so badly need it.
But if the OP truly believes that and it isn't the usual paternalistic White Liberal Racism --- then the OP is complicit, holding back a "black woman" for the greater good.
Stop it.
Or better yet keep it going.
Let's all post a few slides on social media --about how a "black woman" was wronged -- keep a few more young minds polarized - - I'll go my little part now.

Trump is acting like a dictator who is not worried about polling and elections. Given the history of Trump, the erstwhile GOP, and MAGA, I think we can count on voter suppression and cheating.

He's probably not worried about polling or elections. He's not going to be in another election. He doesn't seem to care too much about the long-term political health of the GOP. He would certainly prefer that his loyal supporters win seats and have a majority in Congress, but he's pretty much written off having any kind of legislative agenda for a while now, not even bothering with a second reconciliation package. He appears to be perfectly happy just exercising the considerable powers of the Presidency and making sure that the folks who are in Congress are his allies, rather than worrying about polling - hence, the non-endorsement in Texas.

You're saying Jasmine Crockett is "too black and too female" to win a DEMOCRAT primary election?
Nope. We’re saying that Democrats are realists, and many Texas Republicans are racist.
In the entire history of the state, they have never had a black US Senator. In fact, in the history of the state they have only had four State Senators in the local legislature, and three of those were during Reconstruction. (The fourth was Barbara Jordan, who was elected after the racist voting districts were outlawed and blacks had a chance to elect *someone* who they felt would fairly represent them. She went on to become a US Representative, but never Senator.)
It’s simply true that a black woman is unlikely to be elected to the US Senate in Texas. It may also be true that a white Democrat can’t either, but the reasons are different. In the most recent election the incumbent (who always has an advantage) was Ted Cruz, and he won by 53% to 48% (rounded), a not insurmountable lead given the right candidate and the electorate swing from Republicans - if that materializes. It may not. Then again, a Christian talking white man willo probably play better there than a “liberal firebrand”, as she has been labeled.
Racial. It’s different than “racist”.

I like Jasmine Crockett. She’s smart, she’s a fighter, she’s funny, and she calls bullshit when she sees it.
However, I was pulling for Talarico because I think he fits the Texas state-wide landscape better. He will definitely need the black vote which won’t be easy given last night’s voting fiasco where the Republicans “forgot” to update the correct voting locations for Democrats on the Texas website after their gerrymandering (Republicans know they must cheat to win). But, like I said, Crockett is smart. She knows the best revenge is a Democrat Senator. And hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Fingers crossed.
On the plus side, Talarico’s religious beliefs will carry some weight with Texas Latinos. And anytime you can move a vote from Republicans to a Democrat, that’s a twofer.
It’s going to bean uphill battle, but there is a path.

If I was Trump the Magnificent, and I wanted to make sure of the outcome in November, I would not show my hand in primaries or off-cycle elections. I would wait until just before November, to drop the hammer. Because that would not leave enough time for suits to be decided to unwind my vote suppression tactics.

She's a moron whose thankfully brief political career was built on saying stupid outlandish shyte at the highest possible volume simply to draw attention to herself.
So--I can see why she's just your type.

No. That wasn't what he was saying. Only a moron who spoke Russian as a primary language would think that was what he was saying.
LOL it is hilarious to watch you squirm trying to sow discord.

Many republicans outside of Texas are racist too, which is why there needs to be a Newsom in 2028 running, not Kamala, not Buttigieg, etc. Sorry, but dems run a non white dude in the future (2028 is too soon), or you get the couch fucker in 2028.

Many republicans outside of Texas are racist too... Truer words were never spoken.
Latest case in point...
"Nazi heaven: Inside Miami campus Republicans’ racist group chat"
"The secretary of Miami-Dade County’s Republican Party started a group chat primarily for conservative students last fall — and within three weeks it was filled with racist slurs,
including dozens of ways of violently killing Black people and the chat was renamed after what one member described as "Nazi heaven."
"Participants used variations of the n-word, regularly described women as "whores," used slurs to talk about Jewish and gay people and mused about Hitler’s politics."

never rely on 'independents' to select the most qualified candidate to run america.
every foreign nation has learned this already.
given how impossibly low the bar has been set by the gop, and the sheer mass of elderly white males, it should be near impossible not to find an acceptable candidate for the dems.

Many Democrats everywhere are racist.
Gavin Newsome, being a reasonably reasonably articulate handsome "central casting" white male, with a high high degree of white privilege, has zero chance of prevailing in the Democrat primaries in the next presidential nomination cycle which I guess actually starts right about now LOL.
Of course, Gavin is also an imbecile on the same level as Kamala Harris, so that's yet another negative.
Only an absolute, white supremacist RACIST leftist would "insist" that Gavin Newsome has any right to the Democrat 2028 presidential nomination slot.
Ranger, you tell yourself you're not being RACIST like those MAGAts.
But look at what you're actually saying: ONLY a white male has any realistic chance of beating the Republican candidate (let's assume for now it will be J.D., but it could be Marco Rubio or maybe a few others) in 2028.
That is so RACIST--the ASSUMPTION that ONLY a white male candidate can beat the Republican in 2028--that you're like a darn fish living in a fishbowl who can't see the water.
Only, you're the fish, and the water is your ingrained RACISM which is ingrained so much that you don't even acknowledge. Instead, as many other personality-disordered persons tend to do, you "project" it out onto others (in this case, those evil MAGAts.).
